I've hiked the Canyon rim to rim twice and rafted the entire length from Lee's Ferry to Diamond Creek. Each trip was challenging but spectacular. I'm writing this to urge those of you who want to do something similar not to wait until you retire. We did those trips in our 40's when we were both strong and healthy. My wife passed away in 2004 from leukemia at age 59. I'm now 75 and disabled from COPD and couldn't do things like that even if I wanted to. Get those trips in while you're still able to. Spend a year not buying junk off the internet and you'll have the money to do it. Don't wait for an uncertain future, do it now!
@@TravelingRobert It will be one of the toughest things you've ever done in your life. You need to practice on steep grades both up and down hill at altitude since the grades coming down from the north rim can easily blow out your knees if you're not used to it. I have no idea hoiw you get that kind of practice in in south FL. Maybe get up to the Smokies and try it there. Just hiking in the FL flatlands won't prepare you. Whatever you do, don't make the hike in July! We made that mistake on our first hile and managed to get down into Phantom Canyon during the warmest temperatures on record. It was 118 at Phantom Ranch, and we were in tents. Go in mid-September to mid- October when you have the best chance for good weather but not excessive heat. This is not a hike to be taken lightly so you need to be in shape. Good luck!
He just be going to the most beautiful. Places and the views. Are just awesome it's like we can't be there but we see it through his travels this world is big and places most of us won't see in person
Awesome video! We live in AZ and have visited the South Rim dozens of times and for us it does not get old. We have only visited the North Rim once, on a day trip. But because of your video we are making a trek to North Rim with our rig to take in the sites you have shown us. Thanks and keep up the great work.
All I can say Robert is WOW... 😎 A cool intro leading onto a great video full of stunning scenery and the perfect amount of commentary and info I might be thousands of miles away but you make it seem like we are right there with you every step of the way. 👍 A bit late in real time but happy birthday for the next video... 🎂🎂🎂
Wow.!nice view from the grand canon..beautiful...thank sir robert for the tour..keep safe and stay strong..have a nice tour..take care and drive safely..godbless
You've motivated me to plan a road trip across Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada this June. I've been taking copious notes from your videos and plan to pack a lot into eight days with my son. Thanks for the inspiration, Robert.
Howdy Robert, my wife and I saw the "South Rim" this past March. I kid you not, when we walked to the edge and saw the canyon, tears came to our eyes. Absolutely breath taking and the Elk, OMGosh, close enough to pet. Though we didn't. 😁 We enjoyed the canyon so much, we stayed for three days. Our travels also took us through the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert as we drove RT 66. A sight to see. Bucket list: North Rim Grand Canyon.
Did you go below rim? Even if you go a quarter mile or less down the Bright Angel Train (the easiest one by far) - you're in a group of less than 10 percent of GC visitors (less than 1 percent go rim-to-rim). Which is insane because to get a sense of scale you really need to peek at it below the rim and look up.
No, we stayed on top. Though we spent 3 days seeing the canyon , our age makes for some difficulty traveling on foot. That being said, the shuttle service within the park, was excellent, making our visit even more enjoyable. We plan a visit to the North rim in coming months but first Glacier National Park and maybe "Alaska". Thank you and a very 🎄Merry Merry & a Happy Happy.🎄 We are "The Griswolds" on "RV Vacation".
What we love about The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is No Fee and No guard shack just drive right in..The Grand Canyon is definitely on our bucket list, great video Robert!
I recently discovered Traveling Robert and his fabulous videos and music. Like him putting a sticker on each state he visits, I am going to post this comment on all the videos I watch! You da man, Robert!!
I raised my 5 boys in Overton, NV. (you showed the sign in the video) From Hurricane, UT all the way to Vegas brought back so many memories. I grew up in St George, UT and lived in NV for 26 years. I miss the west but love Florida and the gulf coast.
Oh my gosh my trailer is in this video!! So awesome!! When you pull into the campground and drive to your site my in-laws is the Rockwood on the left, my parents have the hybrid on the right, and I’m the next hybrid on the left. My family and I have been watching your channel for a few weeks now and love it!!
So cool Robert!! You spent my birthday at Grand Canyon :) I was one of my favorite videos so far, and it’s not because the 2nd of July is my birthday, it’s Grand Canyon is really incredible! I wish I could have been there too, I’ve only visited the South Rim and it was an experience I’ll never forget! After seeing your video I am convinced I need to visit the North Rim too :)
Hi, thanks for the trip to the north rim. In 1969 I rode my motorcycle from Flagstaff to the south rim. I had a summer job with the Forest Service on the Coconino National Forest. I never made it to the north rim.
I have some still photos of these same views. Our visit was in July, and the weather was cold for that time of year; we needed jackets. Based out of Kanab Utah for 3 days after flying into Vegas and renting a car. Also visited Bryce and Zion on the trip.
Thank you for posting this beautiful video. The North Rim is my favorite place. We have been probably visited 12 times in the past 20 years. Last year they canceled 2 reservations due to covid and we missed making the trip. We are counting the days until our 2021 trip. Not sure if the video will make the waiting easier or harder, but I enjoyed it. You should mentioned how sweet the air is there because of the Ponderosa Pines. Safe travels.
Awesome Robert. LOVE IT. There is nothing like visiting the Grand Canyon. It touches your soul and you FEEL IT! All the vids and the pictures in the world cannot give to you what really being there does to you. I just didn't want to leave. J
What a surprise Robert a Wednesday video!!! I’ve visited the South rim before I cant wait to watch, I had to comment before watching. Have a blessed day.
It was good to see your North Rim video. My brother and I visited the South Rim in September and truck camped in the Desert View campground near the Tower Point. Beautiful! Thanks for another great video.
Robert When I listen to your music just the music itself I wait for you to talk and you're not there😂 LOL hehehe absolutely love all your music shout out from hermiston Oregon 🤓
Wonderful memories have come back. Thank you, Robert. Grand Canyon is a fantastic Must-See. When I stayed with my sister's near LV end of April some years ago, I took a loooong busride to Grand Canyon. High temperatures in LV, but just above 0° C at GC! Me wearing sandals! Ignorance has to be punished. Around me were other tourists in shorts and T-shirts: Hoorray. Looking forward to your video about LV. Greetings from Bavaria, Germany.
Robert, I have been binge watching your videos all day today. I even got my husband hooked! Your video you did about your life was really great and interesting. I was born in 71 like you but in Miami. I live in Western NC now. Been out of Florida since 81 butFlorida always have my ♥️
Great views from the north rim!! As busy as it felt, it's striking to think that only 10% of the visitors to the Grand Canyon visit the north rim. As always, great and unique views. Thanks for doing this Robert; great to see this during a Minnesota December!
Excellent video Robert. I am with you that no words can describe it. It makes you feel so small just standing in front of it. Our word for it was "Majestic". that's all I have to say about that...
Fantastic video!!! Loved seeing the North Rim. I didn't realize how beautiful it was, as I've only been to the South Rim. Now the North Rim is a must do!!! Thanks, Robert! :)
Thanks Robert I have driven by the North Rim a couple of times but admit I keep going because the crowds would scare me off. This summer I am stopping for sure! Saludos!
Stunning views of the Grand Canyon, only ever seen it from the air in a Helicopter from LV a few years ago. Hopefully this spring/summer we'll see it in person along with many things from your travels Robert. Tony.
When we visited on our 4 week trip though the West The Grand Canyon was our least favorite NP to visit. Our 12 year old daughter called it "The people zoo" due to all the people in the park. Of course this was before the park had the current visiting restriction. Love your trip so far, as we did almost the same trip back years ago. Going to go to Grand Teton, Yellowstone and Glacier in Oct for our 50th wedding anniversary. We Loved Bryce and Zion,
Hello Robert 🤗 I’m a new subscriber, but I totally love all of your videos!!!!! You make me want to go buy a Minnie and go out on my own tomorrow!!! You videos are just Awesome!!! So inspiring and fun to watch and remember some places i went with my family as a kid, and some places I’ve never been but always wanted to go visit! Happy Rving! 😃
V-E-R-Y NICE, Robert. This is THE video I've been waiting to watch. Incidentally, a hike, rim to rim is normally a 3 day/2 night backpacking trip. It's the accumulated elevation gain that you need to be aware of, not the mileage. You are absolutely RIGHT; no photography will ever do justice to the grandeur of the GRAND CANYON. IF you ever want to stay at the North Rim lodge, you'll need to make your reservation AT LEAST a YEAR AHEAD.
I just loved this video Robert I have been there to the north rim back in 2006 it is my spitual place.thanks for sharing.☺And your right pictures does nothing compared to in person an my favorite place of all.ps I only saw the sun rise which was breathtaking but was disaapinted I never saw the sun set.but it was great .
So well done Robert. I’ve never been to the North Rim and so interesting to discover that it has so much more vegetation than the South Rim. I gotta go check it out for sure in our RV. We really appreciate all your episodes but this one was exceptional in my book. So very grateful you are willing to share your wonderful talents with us!!
Awesome video as always! I live in AZ and have been to the South Rim more times than I can count and finally made the trek up to the North Rim this past September and wondered why I never took the time to do so before. Such an amazing place! The South Rim is certainly special, but I can definitively say that I prefer the vibe and views of the North Rim. I can't wait to return! I also found it funny that just like you, I got my picture of the entry sign when I departed the park since it was too crowded on the way in.
Robert, your videos never cease to amaze me, but you outdid yourself this time. Just a major WOW all across the board. I give this TWO THUMBS UP! Safe travels. If you ever need a shotgun, let me know.
So glad I found your channel. Only because there was a post on the escape trailer forum. You showed a nice escape at goosenecks. You have awesome videos.
If I were wealthy (or just had enough to retire I’m 47) I’d like to do this. I love the west but I’d start east and work my way to west going everywhere and staying where I want for as long as I want! I’m going to take a road trip this summer and I’m trying to plan it out. Grand Canyon hiking down is on my list. NM, CO, AZ, UT Las Vegas have some beautiful things to see!
Hey - you made it to Arizona! And you got to the North Rim before the roads closed. Nice! If you intend to hike rim to rim - you'll join the ranks of the 1-percenters.
