Grand Canyon West Rim and SkyWalk. Was it Worth It? Just 2 Hours from Las Vegas!

We purchased a package that included a helicopter ride in and out of the canyon, and a boat ride with a lovely young lady at the helm. As old sedentary people, we knew it was the only way we'd ever get down there and back. Definitely worth it.

We were just thinking of going out there for our trip, I am debating the skywalk and a bit sad to see that you cannot take your camera and stuff to the skywalk, makes me feel like it is fully not as much worth it.

How many minutes do you get in between stops?

I was there back in 2011. Was really cool to see the Grand Canyon. I agree I thought the Skywalk was not really worth the extra cost. You don't really see anything you can't see from other vantage points.

Isaiah's book in the Scriptures, sometimes referred to as the "5th Gospel", was such a beautiful and fitting reading to exalt the Lord while at the Grand Canyon. I'm not sure which family member did the honors..... but your love for Jesus and respect for His word surely shone through.

Wasn’t even worth the $62 General Admission ticket price I paid, I felt ripped off. It was scenic but I’ve seen better on hiking and fishing trips.

Sky Walk is a RIP OFF … $80.00 a person, with No Cameras, Phones, or recording devices … BUT … they will Sell You the Pictures ….

I agree, and the fact that you can't bring your camera makes it even less desirable. I enjoyed it but being forced to pay extra for someone else to take my pictures felt like a tourist trap.

So, it took me a few seconds, skipping to the end to find out "worth it" meant the price of the thing. The Skywalk is one of the things that is ruining the Grand Canyon. It's existence is a shame and a crime against nature.

Nice vid, and i agree with you on the Skywalk, its a bit of a money grab - when i heard that photography was prohibited i made the decision to exclude it. We visited in March 2024. The view from the rim is truly impressive and i really doubt the Skywalk can add to the majesty. We also took a helicopter trip into the canyon so we missed nothing.

The first week the Sky Walk opened my family of 4 went there. We walked out on the walk and it was spectacular! There are Helicopter rides down to the bottom. Once you were at the bottom there was a boat ready to take you on an hour long ride down the River. After the boat ride the helicopter flew you around for a while to see magnificent views. It is an experience our family just loved.

Hello, I really liked your video, I will be in Las Vegas next month, I would like to know how much the guides normally charge for a simple visit to the Grand Canyon, which of the Canyons is not allowed to take your own camera to take photos?

We were in Vegas and got a Groupon for this that included hotel pick up from the strip and it was so worth it!

0:56 It’s only $14 more for the skywalk with the bundle, I don’t know why someone would choose to pay $23 for the same thing.

My grandson and I were there during his spring break. We drove in from the south rim for the day, from where we were staying. I totally agree with you about the sky walk. We did do the Maverick Helicopter tour while we were there, which takes you down the canyon stopping near the Colorado. Totally awesome, worth every penny. A must do for sure!

I felt the same way guano point was more beautiful. You can still walk around and enjoy the view by the sky walk but I definitely dont think the sky walk is worth it. my wife and i are taking our children next month and we will definitely go for the view but not the sky walk. Guano point views blow it out of the water

Agree about skywalk just not worth it really and all they were concerned about were taking your pictures and trying to sell them to ya. It made the lines long to get on it because they were waiting until photographers were available. Of course you can say no but it wasnt really worth it

Tourists trap. South rim free and better but gas is a consideration.

loved your video so much that we decided to go ahead and do grand canyon west. we could have bought tickets online but glad we didn't because one of my friends got sick the day of so we didnt end up going until the next day. when we got to the pierce ferry road turnoff there was a gas station that advertised tickets but we opted to go on to the site in case we got a breakdown on the way. when we got there it was a bit confusing on the line to stand in. people had to funnel past us to get to the rest room and they had clothes hung against the wall where the line was that people had to file past us to look at. the whole thing was a bit disorganized but once we got thew that line about fifteen min we actually saved six bucks for the three of us vs buying online. we then got right on the bus first because i had a wheel chair. thank gosh for that because it would have been another fifteen min line to the bus. once we got to eagle point and over to the skywalk line they let us go ahead of the line because of the wheelchair but at the point their scanners had all broke down and they could not scan in on line tickets from a guy in front of us with a stroller. they let us go in front of him because we had ticket in hand but then it would not scan our ticket. after several minutes they got the system up and running again and glad we had nothing in our pocket or anything because the whole locker thing was another three ring circus. once we where on the skywalk it was great. my brother was a bit scared and at first hung to the side but in the end i got him out into the middle and he loved looking down in to the grand canyon it was a nice addition to my bucket list. glad we did it and now onto other things.

i work there and every day im amazed by the beautiful views and the interactions with the guests that come i always have a lot of fun its less of a job for me more of an adventure of sorts that i get paid to go on

Was there a couple years ago. The indians running it were unfriendly. It was expensive and restrictive as far as taking pictures. not worth it

A train ride or a drive to the south rim can be done from Williams on Hwy. 40 and isn't far from the painted desert -petrfied forest and the meteor crater.

Thoughts on the drive from Vegas? Debating between taking a tour bus (w/ Hoover Dam stop) vs driving there.

I just got back from Grand Canyon. Please don’t waste your money on the skywalk. There are many other viewpoints there that skywalk cannot provide.

Tourist, pleeeease no bungeeless bungee jumping at the Grand Canyon. Go learn to fly at a airport flight school.

So I saw this video the day before going and once there I thought I’d still give the skywalk a try… well he is 💯 right it’s mostly about the bragging rights. Definitely not worth the extra $$ Just go to the next stop Guano Point and the views are amazing waaay better then the Skywalk.

Thanks for the video it was great, we were there in 2013 from the UK, I agree with the majority, bit expensive for the Skywalk and not able to take your own photo's, but you could pay them to take photo's. I recommend a visit to the Grand Canyon but not the Skywalk.

sad you spent all of that time and money and never got to see the real grand canyon you would have been better off driving to Williams az -not flagstaff- and then taking sr 64 into the park

Beautiful but I think I would be TERRIFIED to be anywhere near the edge of the canyon!

I was there when it first opened. The price for the skywalk was 30$. BUT, that's after you paid 14$ toll road fee and then they told you that the skywalk was on sacred indian ground that you were not allowed to drive on. The only way to appease the indian gods was to pay 30$ more for a 2 minute bus ride. I could have easily walked. Also around the area indian dancers were all but begging for tips. No cameras are allowed on the skywalk because you might drop it and break the glass they said. Of course everyone knows it's really because they want to take your picture and then charge you for it. All in all I'm glad I saw it but will never go back.

I was just there this past May. I’m glad I went. The only thing I didn’t like is that you couldn’t take your own pics by phone or camera, you had to buy from the staff photographer that were given you you on a UBC drive. I would have liked to have taken my own pics, not something staged by a photographer.

West……is NOT a National Park(NP), it’s the “fake” Grand Canyon. The real Grand Canyon NP is in Arizona(South Rim) and Utah(North Rim).

We just recently Visited the West Rim and were exited to do the skywalk but were utterly disopinted expically with the ticket prices. The general admission is like $58 which is a lot for a general admission and for sky walk $30 which is not so exciting at all. Overall glad to see the Gods creation.

Skywalk no camera i agree

We did the skywalk, 1.5 hour wait for 5 minutes on the bridge where i couldn't take my own pictures. You get better views at Guano point, definitely not worth the glass bridge due to the long wait time, they really should do a virtual line it would make the overall experience more enjoyable. The Grand Canyon west itself was fantastic, but I don't reccomend anyone do the skywalk
