Thanks for the video. Can you clarify, is the spare USB plug only for charging or is it both wired Android Auto and charging? I have a USB Firestick Dongle from Carlinkit that I'm hoping will play my Firestick through the USB port. Thanks
I don’t have an android but I think that the spare USB is for the android CarPlay and I believe you can play media from it. I did a system update at one point on the unit and use that port to transfer the file.
Thanks for the vid. Are there settings so that the backup camera lines change when the wheel turns? I LOVE this about my Toyota (and other cars I have owned) not sure I can go back to stationary lines on a backup camera.
That is what I am doing now. The lights don’t draw much power and haven’t needed the relay. The video was more to show and explain how to install a relay which would allow you to run additional accessories.
Thank you for the info. now that i am decided to install raptor lights on my car, i'm thinking if i can plug it in the fuse of my foglamps which is rated at 7.5A so it will serve as a switch whenever i open the foglamp but one thing that bothers me is the foglamps has two fuses (FR FOG LH AND FR FOG RH). do i need to tap in on both fuses or just one of each will be just fine?
I presume the aluminum one is fine but I have the steel one and I’m not sure. Check the limits of your factory rails. That’s probably your max with either the aluminum or steel.
BEAUTIFUL! One tip, when using grey stain consider using water-based polyurethane to avoid the ambering effects of oil based. Which can turn your gray color slightly purple.
I am debating between this and an Apple CarPlay module. Once this is installed, is there an firmware update that will allow settings within the original OEM head unit to be customized? As an example, the OEM head unit has a setting where the door locks can either all open when you use the key fob or the driver door only with the key fob or the smart key on the door handle. Changing the level of the back door hatch in the cargo area can be done through the OEM head unit daytime running headlights can be turned on or off within the OEM head unit. These are just some of the major ones that I would not want to lose access to, I did run a test where I took the negative battery terminal off of the battery to see if the settings stayed how they were programmed or if they would reset and they did stay the same as they were originally programmed in the head unit. I’m wondering if you guys cannot provide access to these essential vehicle customization OEM options if we just have to set up the vehicle the way that we want prior to putting your aftermarket head unit in and hope that the settings never revert back to a factory reset, as I don’t know where that information would be stored if it’s not stored Within the OEM head unit? As an example if I have all of the door locks set to open at the same time through the OEM head unit and I put your head unit in will that setting remain or will it revert back to the factory setting of just the driver door openingwith one push of the unlock on the key fob? If all of the functions that we set up in the original head, unit will remains stored on the main computer of the vehicle. I may be OK with that, but if they could ever be wiped out while your head unit is in and the only way I would have access to change it back is to reinstall the original head unit that is just unacceptable to me as I’m locked out of way too many features on this vehicle, I think you guys need to address this publicly as everyone needs to know what they are getting themselves into and quite frankly you should create a firmware update or an app to address this issue if you don’t have an answer. Please let me know as I would like to purchase your unit, butit’s not acceptable to lose all of those features. Time is of the essence thank you for your response.
How do you access key features like lock settings, daytime running lights and many other features? The OEM head unit is the brain for the vehicle programming, if you replace it with an after market you essentially lose all the programming features in the vehicle? Seems like these head units should have incorporated these programming features into the replacement?
Hey i installed this. But I need help!! Everything works but the volume controls? Why is this? Sound comes out but I can’t control the volume. Plz help !
Thinking about this, I'd probably want the Raptor lights to come on with the parking lights. But would be cool to have a switch on the dash to interrupt/turn them off when you'd rather have them off (not sure yet on a scenario where I'd want them off though if parking lights are on).
Thanks for the video. I just got mine installed and i am still trying to figure out all of the settings. For some reason every time i use with my phone still of my contacts on my phone go away. Do you have any idea why this is happening?
Hi! Were you able to retain the OEM USBs charging outputs below the stereo? I know that it won't work for carplay, etc. but my 2017 XLE has 3 USB chargers that I'd love to retain when I install this week. Thanks in advance!
The first week the Sky Walk opened my family of 4 went there. We walked out on the walk and it was spectacular! There are Helicopter rides down to the bottom. Once you were at the bottom there was a boat ready to take you on an hour long ride down the River. After the boat ride the helicopter flew you around for a while to see magnificent views. It is an experience our family just loved.
Do all the OEM features still work? i.e. the bird's eye cameras? (If you have a limited, you should have the four-camera configuration cameras) the in dash information features? steering wheel controls?
One other thing to point out, there are two protective films on the screen. I peeled off the oversized thin one thinking that was it. Later, I noticed a small spec on the screen and then others. They were perfectly round and when I looked close it looked like specs of dust caught under a screen protector. Sure enough, there was a protective screen in addition to the thin film. Not sure what it says about cleanliness of the manufacturing facility with a number of specs of dust under the screen protector!!!! Anyway, glad the screen wasn't damaged so I didn't have to remove or send back.
I built a full size bed out of cherry, much more involved and I used brackets to take it apart. I and glued the cherry to get thick pieces, and used dominoes for joints. A lot of work, and the bed is still rock solid five years later. But I should have left the extra room on the sides, it would make it much easier to change sheets and blankets. I'm about to tackle a twin bed, and will make it like the old one, except for the extra room on all sides. Thanks for the ideas! Your bed looks excellent. The twin mattress, which was on a metal daybed that is not comfortable as a "couch" is going to be reused. It's 7 inches thick, so am trying to figure out how to design it so the mattress stays contained. The side rails are the biggest expense as I have enough wood for the head and footboards (cherry). Extra motivation via watching your cute video.
@@PictureTime I am a bit confused how this works. The breakout cable from the radio and aux L/R out which you connect to aux L/R in on the CAN0004-X cable which then must go the factory connectors. But the instructions say to just connect the L/R not FL/FR/RL/RR, etc. However, I seem to be able to do L/R balance and F/R fade control. Maybe someone can help me understand how this is accomplished and/or if I may have wired incorrectly.
Thanks for the review and tutorial on the install. Because of your video, I purchased the same unit and it is working great! The only issue I am having is being able to hear my music from Spotify on the CarPlay in ALL the speakers. For some reason it is only playing in the front speakers. When I play the radio through the android section of the unit, all speakers are working and I am able to EQ the lows, miss, and highs. BUT, when I play music through the CarPlay section of the unit, the music is very flat with no EQ and it only plays through the front speakers. Have you had this same issue or do you know what I am doing wrong?
Hey quick question. Does the device have wired apple carplay also? For example if u wanted someone else to connect to CarPlay, do I have to turn off Bluetooth and they have to connect, or can you connect via usb
Why in the world would you need a relay to switch on 3 little LEDs that probably won't produce more than .5 amps? Yes relays are the way to go with most applications, such as light bars, on board air compressors, ditch lights, pretty much anything with more than 3amps to be on the safe side. But raptor LEDs will work just fine with a fused power wire and any rocker switch, even the cheap eBay rocker switches would be able to handle them. If I'm wrong, please correct me. Suddenly everyone wants to put a relay on every little thing they install, thats why they sell them by the dozens on Amazon and eBay. If you think im wrong, go look in your car's manual, and try to find the "relay" for your license plate lights lol 😂
Great point. You don’t need the relay. The instructions recommended it and we thought it might be helpful to learn about what they do and how to install one. But you don’t need a relay for these lights. I’m currently running them on my ‘21 with no relay.
@@PictureTimei apologize if i came out sounding disrespectful and rude, i take that back. Everyone should learn how to use a relay. Awesome instructional video on how to use a relay. Again, my apologies, hope you have a great Sunday 👍🏽
