I’ve been hip to I.U. Since 90 or 91. So underrated. The bar that always stuck with me is “Rhyme after rhyme, each verse flows loosely. Hittin like a brick and kickin like Bruce Lee” from I kick ass. This dude was a legend. Salute from California!
I'm a rap lover I've gone through loads of songs and artist but never heard this guy. But think he passed away today and Daddy Kane made a post saying R.I.P came on here straight away listen to him and hes decent.
@@gingerben9310 He was way better than decent. Listen to his first album, "Smooth Assassin". It was one of the best hip-hop albums of all time. His bars were years ahead of their time.
When I first heard this guy I thought he was trying to be an imitation BDK. This young man has put in the work over the years. Came back strong with this album. This song is underrated, definitely a banger!
If it wasn't for me listening to Big L's "Da 🪦 yard(95)" from the "Lifestylesz ov da poor and dangerous" album I wouldn't know who G.I.U is! He was the last to rhyme on that song. This song is just smooth! If I was to know more about him from when he first came out I would've bought his albums a long time ago! He can rap smooth and hard! Which makes him versatile. It's a shame he passed so suddenly. He's chilling in God's kingdom and no longer suffering. May he rip🙏!
This joint got overshadowed at the time by classics such The Notorious BIG Juicy,Craig Mack’s Flavor in your Ear,Wu-tang Clan’s Can it be so Simple and plenty of other’s back in summer of 94. Still it was a great year for Hip-Hop. R.I.P.,Grand Daddy IU.
I've always loved this song......I love Grand Daddy I.U.'s music because he always have a jazzy tune to all his songs. He's better than any of these so called rappers/hip-hop artists out today - - LW, JZ, KW, Drake, etc.....That's right, I said it.
I love this song. I just wish The Grand Daddy U would have never went "hard core" it was never a good look for him in my opinion. The Daddy U was a smooth and talented lyrical wordsmith not a thug or gangsta rapper. It just looked silly to me, even in this video. However the sound can not be denied. The man can produce and put a song together well. I know the industry was pushing positive black talent out of the game, so I get why he crossed over to be hard core but it was so fake a silly. Rest in peace to a great M.C. The Grand Daddy U.
The singing on the hook is terrible and the beat isn't that good compared to his other beats. Represent and Something New are much much much better Grand Daddy IU songs!
