Thanks to the internet, your song and your pow wow has reached Australia and touched my spirit. I am Plains Cree and am disconnected from my people. Thanks to this footage I feel closer to my land and my people
Every time I watch pow wows I feel a sense of happiness ,sadness, beautifulness. Also I am watching this during the Coronavirus Pandemic. It’s super crazy.
Wow, this is cool! The navajo nation really helped me when I was homeless when i was younger. You will always go with me in my spirit. Greetings from Mexico!
The Gathring of Nations grand entry brings the people together. It's a way to bring everyone here on Earth with our ancestors in the Spirit World to honor what the Great Spirit has given us through dancing, singing, drummming, prayers, & fellowhship.
So beautiful to watch. Gave me goosebumps. Such togetherness of many different tribes but joining as one nation. My respect goes out to all the many American Indians.
I'm currently learning Lakota, I'm not Lakota but I frew up around many of them and even if its not in my blood I'm very proud that I get to learn not only about Lakota but the Native American culture as a whole. I cant wait to learn more about such an awesome and amazing culture
This particular song and pow wow bring me to choking back on tears no matter how many times I watch it. I only have 9% Native in me from Latin America/Carribean but it's amazing how hearing something of the indigenous peoples stirs my emotions. Similar to when I hear songs from the cultures of my other bloods. It's a very powerful feeling.
I enjoyed the POW WOW years back when it was in Halifax Nova Scotia. I wish it would come back, I would for sure take my grandkids to enjoy that experience.
CHEROKEE NATION! COMANCHE NATION! CHOCTAW NATION! My heart is forever with my people!!! I hope to attend a Gathering of Nations Pow Wow soon! It has been so long since I have been to a pow wow in Joseph Oregon at Chief Joseph days when I was a child! I will forever be proud to be Cherokee, Comanche and Choctaw. PENDLETON OREGON!!!!Much love from your neighbors in grande ronde valley!
I just asked whether we from East Coast were in attendance. Are we invited or know about this - or East Coast does not stay informed? If National, I hope that we ALL, have opportunity to participate.
I moved away from home and looked up songs that reminded me of home. This came up and I’m Navajo, I now live in south louisiana and these songs are the best.
The singing ....if u close ur eyes you could imagine a past world wild ,fierce, beautiful, unspoiled, connected with nature, simple ....my respects for the first people in America...
Love The pow wow drumming! It was aw some all the beautiful out fits all the art work and the time it takes to make these,I am not native but love hearing the pow wow drum makes me wanna dance
Latino from NM with Mescalero Apache blood on my great grandmother's side. When I hear the drum beat and as I watch this gathering, I feel my heart well up with reverence and awe. This is truly the United (First) Nations. Respect to all Indigenous people.
RedGryyn Thank you. I have faced a lot of negativity in my life from people who tell me that my skin is too dark, and my hair is too curly to be considered Native American. People have often told me that I don't look like a "traditional First Nation" person. I still want to go to a Pow Wow. But I'm honestly worried that if I ever attended a Pow Wow, people will stare at me or treat me differently because of my complexion and hair.
+Dylan Summers it sounds like they don't know about the many Afro-American/Native American people down through history. It's even on Wikipedia. I'm mixed race (Native, Irish, Russian, German, Altaic) and often don't discuss my Indian heritage because part of it is a great-grandmother who was Cherokee and there are all those "Cherokee Princess" jokes. It's similar to what Elizabeth Warren goes through, she is not a fake, and didn't put Native American on forms to get any special treatment, she did it to let people know we are out there, same reason I do it. But +Clashy Kane is right. All races are and should be welcome. I should go too.
My Uncle lived in Albuquerque, NM and when I was very little (back in the 80's), he would go to see them (Navajo) and all their traditions. I loved when my Uncle would come to visit and share all the wonderful stories. THESE PEOPLE ARE BEAUTIFUL and deserve MUCH RESPECT!!!
Thank you for enduring and strengthening each other for future generations ❤️ I only have a small amount of Native American blood, but have always been proud of it and the brave nations.
Who told you these Mongolians, Asian, and five dollars so-called native are the original Americans lol wow, the indigenous Americans are the original Americans and they are being called black or black Americans or Afro American or Negroes or colored people or African Americans which is a new term giving to them in the 1980's because they don't know what to call a people that you hide their true identity from them and the world. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LkL1NCMXYEQ.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9kfkGwdO2E0.html we ARE STILL HERE AND WE ARE BLACK THE TRUE PEOPLE OF AMERICA 2020 African Americans Ain't African HERE IS THE FIRST PEOPLE COLUMBUS AND OTHERS SAW WHEN THEY FIRST CAME TO MY ANCESTORS LAND. Columbus Himself According to renowned American historian and linguist Leo Weiner of Harvard University, one of the strongest pieces of evidence to support the fact that Black people sailed to America before Christopher Columbus was a journal entry from Columbus himself. In Weiner’s book, “Africa and the Discovery of America,” he explains that Columbus noted in his journal that the Native Americans confirmed “black skinned people had come from the south-east in boats, trading in gold-tipped spears. The Accounts of Other European Explorers Christopher Columbus wasn’t the only European explorer who made note of an African presence in the Americas upon his arrival. Historians revealed that at least a dozen other explorers, including Vasco Nunez de Balboa, also made record of seeing “NEGROES” when they reached the New World. The accounts match up with the reports from the natives in Mexico. Nicholas Leon, an eminent Mexican authority, recorded the oral traditions of his people and ultimately kept track of a key piece of evidence that Black people made it to the New World far before their European counterparts. His reports revealed accounts from natives saying “the oldest inhabitants of Mexico WERE BLACKS. [T]he existence of blacks and giants is commonly believed by nearly all the races of our sail and in their various language they had words to designate them. THE GRAVE NEVER LIE IT'S THE LIVING THAT LIES Ancient African Skeletons Discovered in the New World There have been many instances of archaeologists discovering skulls and skeletons that they believed clearly belonged to people of African descent. Polish professor Andrzej Wiercinski revealed the discovery of African skulls at Olmec sites in Tlatilco, Cerro de las Mesas and Monte Alban. Even more ancient African skeletons that would clearly predate Columbus’ arrival in the Americas were discovered throughout Central America and South America with some even being unearthed in what is now California.
Jason Atkins IT'S PAINFULLY OBVIOUS YOU ARE JUST WHITE. THERE IS MIXTURE OF TRIBAL BLOOD AMONGST REAL CHEROKEES. THE TRAIL OF TEARS IS THE REASON. YOU ARE WHITE & NOTHING ELSE! ACCEPT IT.
I am glad that the late Spike Draper was honored by his Uncle! RIP Spike Draper! We love & miss you! I felt him dancing with his Dance Special! He was there in Spirit!! :) Mitakuye Oyasin/All My Relatives!
Even though I am a Latinamerican descendent from South American native women raped by the Spanish conquerors--therefore a half-breed. I acknowledge that the indian (Embera) blood in me, connects right away with this celebretion which I have longed for a long time to be a part of. God bless and keep united the indigenous peoples of America from Canada to La Patagonia.
I have been present for several Gathering Of Nations. But this entry is my favorite the pride Mr. Stewart displays while carrying the Eagle Staff makes me say ITS A WONDERFUL DAY TO BE NATIVE. YAKAMA NATION citizen right here thanks you.
When ever my family is driving down the highways and we see a eagle my dad would take Tobacco and crush it in his hand and open the window for the eagle. 🦅
I can't stop crying. What a proud and beautiful people and to remember and still see the injustice done to you is heartbreaking. Seeing you stand in solidarity an beauty dancing and singing keeping tradition alive. I am blessed to have come across this video. Thank you
hello. new here from India. being a tribal myself this interests me a lot and i want to learn more...so a few questions- different tribes are also known as nations? different tribes have different dresses/patterns, dances and different languages/dialects or are they quite similar? what are the different tribes/nations present here? Also May your tribes grow and your cultures flourish.
+karasunocrows each tribe is a sovereign political entity. So yes they are literally nations unto themselves. They all have their own traditions, including languages, but these at the pow wow are shared.Native Americans were and are all over both north and south america. Here at GON its mostly American and Canadian tribes numbering in the hundreds. I myself am Diné/Apache/Haida/Tlingit. My daughter is Diné/Apache /Haida/Tlingit/ Fort Peck Assiniboine & Sioux /Molalla/Chugach . She is quite the mix.
karasunocrows watch this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hNCoN0ea4oU.html This is more traditional Dine(Navajo) Apache drumming singing.
