Here is an official Shea Stadium site that interviewed Mark Farner recently about the Legendary Shea Stadium concert from 1971 that holds the ticket sales record after 38 years.

If you've never sinned, you can cast the next stone at Ted.Personally I just enjoy his music and acknowledge his major influence on rock music from it's early days to the present.Ted didn't talk much at all during his early days.Then Fred Bear passed the baton to Ted to lead the fight against the antis. Ted accepted this responsibility and unceasingly works to preserve nature, our freedoms and our rights in an ever increasingly troubled society and planet. Thanks Ted!

This is what many people think Rock & Roll is all about. GFRxR was simple and they were crude and they rocked with a vengeance without pretense or apology. Their live show was 100% energy. It was raw and it was real. For all us who remember, nothing can replace it.

So often in life, true genius in artform is NOT recognized until a person has passed. Someone once said, "Something is not considered great until it absolutely, positively, CAN NOT be ignored." I know that GFRxR was not everyone's cup of tea. That being said, it can not be ignored what 3 average guys from Flint, Michigan acomplished from '69-'76. Too many albums were sold, too many concert tickets were sold, & too many artists were influinced by these 3 guys for R&RHOF to ignore them.

GFRxR was a real people's band. Rejected by critics, GFRxR still became the first band to earn 10 consecutive platinum albums. They broke The Beatles ticket sales record at New York's Shea Stadium in '71, a record that has stood an astounding 37 years. I remember as a teenager (70s) doing my H.W. at the sound of G.F.R. the soulful voice of Mark Farner. Much to the chagrin of my mother, posters of the band & mostly Mark adorned my bed.walls..... time passes & other bands became favourite. Thanx to u I'll be now looking at re-starting my G.F.R. CD collection.

Good old uncle Ted. Also if ya dig this song on youtube you may enjoy Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band. I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and also read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RU-vid. 😀

@seymourbbest for the record, Ted Nugent did dodge the draft, but Ted Nugent has publicly apologize and has done more for our troops and law enforcement than any other musician. I am an Army Veteran , purple heart recipient and HUGE NUGE supporter! He and his family are great people. I know this first hand and not to mention he has been to every combat zone in our modern day on his dime to support the troops!

Thx man but i have been using that phrase since i got into Radio back in the 80s,however in all honesty Mark did use that same line in an interview on VH1.We do think a like.2 of my first songs i wrote back in the late 60s were almost identical to 2 songs he wrote on some album i have never heard called Monumental Funk.When he heard my songs he said he and Donny were trying to figure out when they wrote them.lol nice compliment to my first effort of song writing.

@PackedFunk Grand Funk Railroad has consistently been turned down as nominees in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What does that tell you about the "Hall of Fame"? I hope they're never inducted. To be honest about Ted and GFR way back when.....Nugent was very jealous(among many) of Mark Don & Mel's success back then...Alot of vitriol came out of his mouth on radio and magazine interviews....Somewhere along the line there had to be a gigantic apology rendered to MDM for them to even allow this night to happen 07/04/98 at Pine Knob in Detroit.

@HD80EVO Grandmaster Flash is a great example of how big a joke this is. I think they try to credit him with being the first rapper to hit the mainstream. How that translates into a RnR hall entry I'll never know....He may be the guy in the Blondie video form 79 or 80...you know the one that was so good, I can't remember what it's called...
