Although I love the local markets I also love Grand Janet supermarket. It has many international food choices and endless aisles of interesting goodies to explore. I always enjoy a trip to Grand Janet :) #mayainbulgaria
Hi Maya, its amazing in there , I was there a couple of weeks ago to see where the nearest supermarket was to me, I really didn't expect find a place so well stocked,
I’m a big fan of Janet. Really reminds me of the Carrefour chain in other European countries. I love the variety even if I only end up buying watermelon and a nut cracker 😂
That's a great store ,i bought an air fryer last year very handy ,i never use the oven now ,asda in the uk doesn't have that amount of varieties even though they are big stores ,nice looking around and very interesting ,take care
@@MayainBulgaria they are handy and i think quicker than a big oven especially if your by your self ,a lot are buying them now to save on electric as oven are expensive to run.
Honestly I’ve been only once at Janet in Nesebar on the east coast , however usually I do my shopping in Kaufland as they have a lot discounts with the card 🤷🏼 but as I live in a village currently, I’m buying potatoes for example by local producers
Exactly. I get as much seasonal fruit from the Sunday market as possible and then non seasonal fruit and veg and speciality things like mussels at stores like Janet. Local market first 👌
Grand Janet is not unlike Asda, Tesco or Sainsbury's here. Good to see natural peanut butter which I'm addicted to (Meridian and Pip & Nut brands) but must be eaten with a ripe banana. Great to see Wensleydale cheese is available so should Wallace and Gromit visit Bulgaria they won't be missing their fave cheese, though I'm sure they'd bring some in anyway. Do they sell Douwe Egberts coffee? It's about the only coffee I drink but again I've become addicted to drinking it with a cheap form of Bailey's cream. Lidl here charges £4.75 for their version. If yes to the above then I'm booking a plane to Bulgaria and hope I can find a place to live that I can call my own for £100?
Not sure about the coffee, I only have one coffee a week at the moment and that is at 21 Grams cafe. But then there’s a Lidl in harmanli with “the good coffee” 😄 I’m surprised how much is available here in rural Bulgaria. But for a house you might need to add 2 zeros to your 100gbp 🙃
@@MayainBulgaria I still can’t believe how expensive some foods are in BG. 1 litre olive oil at home here in Dublin is 2.80 euro . Be lucky to find same in BG for 4.5 euro. I never understand that considering Greece is next door to BG. Love the videos .
The popularity of wafers I think comes from the communist times, they are as popular here in Romania. One of the few treats available back then. I suspect they produced it because it's mostly air. :))
I is I believe a company owned by Americans , but they have a factory in Svoge , also a chocolate named Svoge xd montblnk or something like that was the owners group name … hmmm
with regards to "METRO" years ago there was some controversy that they sell carcinogen meat on purpose or more like that Austria sell their bad to eastern europe on purpose, so I guess Janet should be better and I've no idea who/what owns it it surely sounds Bulgarian which also makes me suspicious, but compared to say t-market they sell less spoiled foods.
@@MayainBulgaria As an old man who had 2 daughters I haven't seen since 24 years , I really care for you, and you happiness dear Maya ! I am so pleased to guesss in my heart that some wounds are healing here ... With my utmost respect for you . Hervé
