Well done! This is exactly how piano samples should be demonstrated, be it for Nord or any other brand. As being executed here, the focus should be on the middle of the keyboard (which is the hardest part for the manufacturer to get right), allowing the notes to sustain and resonate. Too many "demonstrators" will go on an ego trip to show you how many notes and chords they can squeeze into a bar. Successive jazz voicings and fast runs will likely get a lot of likes for the technical ability of the player, but they will not show any deficiencies the sample may have, as the sound doesn't last long enough. Even toy pianos will sound OK when demonstrated this way. Things will be very different the first time you play a pop ballad. Again well done!

I had completely forgotten that I had seen this video before, and posted a previous comment, but I so enjoyed it this time around, because of the song you played, cos it is one of my favourites. I love the chord substitutions you made, awesome and interesting. I see you are based in the UK. I'm in Wales. The image quality(lighting, colours, and focusing) and sound quality of your video are excellent, also the way you delivered the information, was very well paced, and not rushed. Just the way I like it. Calm and measured. I think I now consider things a bit differently to my earlier comment, where I expressed a preference for the Yamaha Montage piano sound. I think both of these sounds are wonderful and can co-exist, in the same music group or in a studio, if one can afford both, to provide more colours. Clearly the Nord Pianos have more "character" and sound far more realistic, more like a proper sampled piano. But above all, they have their own "Nord" piano sound that is not available in other instruments. Your video is very informative. Thank you.

Hi Okay, Great to meet you. We went to Wales this summer for a long weekend on the coast to a caravan park and it was beautiful. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. Although, it takes time and resources for both pre and post production to have these videos ready with no RoI so far, it is great to see people find the videos insightful and I'm able to help others. Hopefully, if you decided to follow the channel, you will find other videos helpful as part of this community. I also appreciate you taking time to provide your feedback.

Thanks for the video, Stan. Beautifully played and I like your comments on the context of the different pianos. One question I have: did you have the pianos all in the instrument's memory at the same time? I wonder all the time how far you can get with the apparently quite limited memory of the Nord instruments. Thank you very much.
@standavidson
@standavidson Год назад
Thank you, RalfFleischhauer! Indeed, the Nord memory amount is of a 10Ys ago size. Answer to your query is: Yes, I have all these pianos in the memory of Nord Piano 5. There was one more which I've skipped to keep the video conscise. The piano memory is dedicated/has its own bank compared to the synth/pads section which is general half of what is allocated for the pianos. It's completely full at the moment. I looked at adding Pearl Upright and I had to replace an existing sample with a smaller one to make enough room to add that. I'm thinking of creating a video where I explain my workflow, if there's value and interest in that from the community. Let me know!

@@standavidson Thank you Stan for your detailed answer, very nice of you. Yes, it is hard to believe that in 2023 we still have to deal with too small storage. A video of your workflow would be great. Thanks again and keep having fun with your beautiful instrument.

Good night Stan, how are you? Congratulations! I have never heard Nord pianos sound so bdm equalized. What did you do to get that clean, heavy, crystal clear sound? Was it equalization on nord piano 5?

Hi Maurillio Salvador, If you've got subtitles enabled in your local language, I explain what the settings are for every grand piano sample. I only enabled EQ for Royal Grand 3D, the rest have EQ disabled. I'm glad you liked the video per your comment, and if you did like it, please make sure you like the video and subscribe to the channel, should you want to see more videos like this created or even share it with your network.

Hi Bonny, I'm using a audio interface which converts the analog to digital and connects to the laptop where I capture it. At the right time, hopefully, I'd be able to review it and share a link where people can buy it from. Hope this helps.

Hi Pordermart, I'm assuming you're asking about the monitors I use. This question came up quiet frequently from other followers as well. Please, keep an eye on the channel as I'm going to create a video on that very topic since it's on a high demand from you/the community.
