I have a Taurus PT638. 15+1 rounds of 380. It's good but I had to polish the feed ramp and use specific ammo. Very fun to shoot though. This looks amazing. 380 nowadays is about the same price as 9mm now on ammo seek.
I had just watched a vid where several 380 brands of ammo were used. That longer barrell for sure added a good percentage to the speed to those freedom seeds. 👍
@@GBGuns Would you say the recoil is much less compared to 9mm? I mean its still a blowback what ads a bit in recoil but its at least a little bit less than a k100 in 9mm I guess.
Can’t wait to get one. First grand power may be only grand power. Might be an ex caliber. Haven’t decided yet because I haven’t saved the money yet. Holsters are a bitch. A gun like that might be a good reason to buy a drop leg or a shoulder holster. Check out Matt splat. He carries big guns comfortably and get bargain stuff from eBay. That might help. These guns are not in stores so it’s hard to get an idea of where or how I personally would carry it. Need to feel a gun loaded to feel the balance and all. In the meantime check out Matt splat he had some good recommendations and other than that maybe R grizzle leather (Georgia)GS2. Garrett industries, STX with snaps and straps. I think that would be a hell of a good holster for an ex caliber. I like straps and snaps if you can’t tell. Good luck. Do you have the silver barrel or the blued.?
You can also make one. I have found some expensive leather holster‘s from well-known makers and bargain band or boxes. Hundred dollar holster for five bucks. Altered them with two needles and some nylon kite string .And a tiny drill bit. Would be difficult to find a good candidate for doing that for the X caliber. You’ve got to start with a larger holster than you need. That’s a big gun. Let me know about the barrel. All I’ve seen is the blued version lately. Take it easy
Good afternoon from NC ,G&T. I appreciate your content. Hopefully sooner than later I’ll be able to show you that by throwing you a couple bucks now and then. I like to do what I can do in the meantime. Like comment subscribe of course. And your channel is The only one I have the bell activated. (algorithms apparently are a thing)Don’t forget me when y’all are big(er) time. Unfortunately grand powers aren’t in the stores. I’ve seen enough on your channel and read enough of your articles on depot to know that eventually I will afford myself a grand power. I like the Excalibur. a lot .large & in charge. It would be worth buying my first drop leg holster. Or maybe shoulder rig. And would be a good gun for the nightstand ,Camping, outdoor stuff.(A front night sight is A good thing in a dark tent just to see where it is. That nylon is slick and I’ve had guns work their way out of the spot where I put them. Easily remedied by folding up a T-shirt or something to lay on. Maybe even carry some in the winter.?.Haven’t looked online at them lately but noticed the unfinished stainless steel barrel was nowhere to be seen. The blue or any coating would be more practical but I don’t compete, the contrast and aesthetics of the silver on black is what I would prefer if that’s the way I go .thinking about k100 like the one you carry. You responded to me along time ago and pointed me in that direction . You’re the grand power guy, so that is a suggestion I would trust. If I had the money I would feel comfortable just ordering the damn thing. I don’t own anything in 380, that gun is cool and all but the ammo is an issue & straight blow back isn’t what I’m looking for from grand power. It’s that beautiful machining and Cam. Not going the way of a Beretta storm. I’m sure they shoot nice too but like the Slovakian rotator. Better. You can’t have them all. Correction, I can’t have them all. Somebody somewhere can but it isn’t me. 380 is Pricey. I shoot everything I own. Not a collector per se.. still trying to get comfortable enough with stock 365 XL to carry it. Don’t have quite the right holster yet. Close but no cigar. Great shooting gun. Not even going to think about a light or anything until I get comfortable with the gun. It shoots very good. I’m all over the place already so I’ll cut it short. Not going to proofread so it might be crazy looking. Tia has just as much skill to spin that plate(thank you by the way for tightening the bolts on that wobbly thing). She’s talking herself out of it. It’s in her head. She’s thanking about smelling the ammo and God knows what else. I like that part of the video though so I hope she keeps doing it. You mentioned physics. That’s what all this is about. The next best thing to getting my hands on that gun and shooting it is watching you do it. You know the company, the platform, doing the best ammo testing out there with the what’s for dinner. Very well thought out. Get it 100%. The birthday bump Comment about the slide dropping went over my head.?. Y’all have military experience if I remember correctly. Your girl was an armor.?. You? Here’s a real tangent for you and then I’ll end this novel. Ran out of coffee last week, I haven’t had time to do any real shopping, not even any Folgers instant around this morning. Get in the truck to go to the convenient store for a cup, not awake… no gun. Put on sweatpants, flip-flops and a jacket with no shirt and zipped it up. Put on my hat and took off. No gun in the truck or on me. Didn’t run into any trouble, a nine point buck jumped all over the Honda in front of me. He was suffering. I did have a fillet knife on me but that was dangerous. Had to go home and get a 22 rifle and a briefcase I’ve got set up for storing a few pistols and some extra mags and stuff. Got back and didn’t have to shoot. It was taking its last breath‘s. Not struggling anymore. It made me realize how weird things get when you get a adrenaline dump. And that was just a deer and it didn’t even directly involve me. People talk a lot of junk on here. It’s important to be used to your gun. Like you said second nature. I was there with a K frame, 66 2.5 inch. The XL shoots so nice. Prefer OWB. But it’s so small. And slim. I’m determined to find the right holster for that gun. I think I could do IWB. I have comfortably, tolerably carried a Beretta 81 IWB In a nice rough side out , El Paso saddlery holster made for a government 45. Altered it with a tiny drillbit, some nylon kite string I happen to have right in front of me on the coffee table for some reason and a couple large needles . Sewed a little bit of a cant into it. Nonadjustable steel clip. It works. Rounded the muzzle end & sewed it closed too. It’s a 32 caliber yes. But it shoots very accurately. The gun in this video reminded me a little of it. The ejection. Very consistent when you were going fast if you would’ve had a 5 gallon bucket over there most or all would’ve gone right into it. That’s how that little surplus gun ejects .LOK thin checkered didn’t seem like that much on website as far as measurements. Made all the difference in the world. Shot placement. One in the chamber is a Hornaday hollowpoint. I’ve shot a few in a row before and they worked but I put 71gr ball in that gun just like the manufacturer recommended. Never had a malfunction. If you read owners manuals stuff works. Not just with guns. With everything. For the most part. The deer. I would hope a young guy or a girl didn’t find them self in a situation that lingered. They get all hopped up on adrenaline and lift up their shirt where they have there appendix holster with two extra mags that they haven’t practiced with. Even if they don’t shoot they’re in trouble already. Especially if they’ve had a beer or two. you know what I’m saying. Really carrying a gun is really a big decision not to be taken lightly. And the deer also was a reminder that you never know when you’re going to need it. I’ve got to get my stuff in order. Getting lackadaisical lately. No Bueno. Apologies for jumping all around. THE END! PS. Holsters?Iwb & 0wb. Pls. Throw a few out there for me. I’ve seen that one hybrid double clip you wear. I like pull dot snaps & straps. Or maybe a single clip. Was thinking maybe you’ve seen something around that would be helpful with that XL. For now. Thanks again for all y’all new on here. I know it’s not easy all the time. Looks fun but know it’s work also. Take care
I didn"t know they sell them in US. I thought they were Made for the Mexican and Brazilian market because we have legal Caliber restrictions in both countries.
Grand Power, I purchased the CP380 after watching your videos on it. The LP wasn’t available then and I must say it’s very underrated!! I love mine , it is a tack driver. A revisit of the CP 380 would be great! Ammo is more expensive. Do you know where I could get a holster for the CP380 ??
There are many holster companies who will make custom kydex holsters if you contact them. For example: Black Rhino Concealment should be able to make one for you. I’m sure others can too
@@marcus1282 9mm is still marginally cheaper due to scale, but i just bought some more 380 using ammoseek for under 30 cents a round. For current ammo prices thats FANTASTIC.
@@Gieszkanne I used to shoot at the range a lot. So, it added up. It was my primary hobby, at one time....I just don't have as much time for it anymore. I would not say 380 is cost prohibitive but i was looking to have as much fun as I could at the range for the most reasonable price....the lane rental costs too, even though I paid for that with a membership
I didn't even know there was any .380 still made with such a LONG barrel! I try to get a 4 inch or nearly so (3.8 or 3.9 inch) longish barrel in any .380 I buy. Much shorter and you risk loosing a lot of initial muzzle velocity! And for Self-defense with a handgun, it's all about the level of energy delivered to the target.
Graham, I noticed quite a bit of similarity between the Grand Power K100 and the Bersa TPR9 in terms of size and appearance. How would you say the K100 trigger compares to the TPR-9? The heavily curved trigger on the TPR-9 is unusual, but I'm wondering about trigger weight and reset on the K100. Grand Power puts the trigger at roughly 5 lbs in single action and 8 lbs in double action. I like the decocker on the TPR-9 as I actually sometimes enjoy a double action trigger.
I have shot a slew of 380 blowback pistols and have to say I have never seen one ever shoot that flat except maybe a Model 86 Beretta with a 4.4" barrel; however, it is only an 8 shot single stack. That was definitely the best shooting from Teya hands down. I wonder if they were to put lightning cuts in the slide like they do for the X-Trim if it would lighten it up enough that she could carry it or if it would become a detriment to the flatness of its recoil impulse?
I own a Stribog and have been recently looking at their pistol lineup and have started to watch your videos on the subject. Really has my interest peaked. I might have to start collecting these.
Overall quality is about the same. The Grand Power has less felt recoil, and does NOT have a magazine safety like the Beretta. The Grand Power has a laser/light rail and older Berettas do not. Edit: The Beretta is a LOT easier to field strip until you get used to the GP.
can you let the hammer down manually for that double action on the first shot? i have a tisas fatih 13 that works that way. its a beretta 80s series clone, with no de cocker but the hammer can be manually lowered.
Man I Credit you for introducing the Grand Power line of Firearms this .380L is a Tough Choice now that you’ve Reviewed this one If I had to Choose One I’d probably go with?? 🫢:) Thanks for making this Option, like you I’m Biased towards the Grand Power 🎉🎉🎉Keep up the Good work you and Tia. Love the Great Content 😎
