This is my first day with the Grand Seiko Snowflake SBGA211 (pre 2017 was the SBGA011). To say this is an amazing watch would be an understatement. The special titanium alloy that Grand Seiko uses for this watch makes it so comfortable on wrist that you will forget you're wearing it. In addition to the weight the shape of the case together with the lug and bracelet design make the watch hug the wrist and make it feel like you're wearing a smaller watch. This watch is every bit as comfortable as a 36mm Rolex. Not bad for a watch that's about 40mm. Add to all this the amazing Spring Drive movement that's crazy accurate and we have a watch that's a joy to wear anytime anywhere. Stay tuned for more detailed review videos! Yeah, if you want a budget super sweeper I recommend a sub $300 Bulova with the 262 khz movement, I have a $210 Bulova dress watch all solid links and end links, no stupid dial just elegant, nice clasp, superb quality, gorgeous 16 bps sweep and it's downright unbelievably accurate in the 4 months i tracked it it in only gained just under 2 seconds. It's so underrated.

Craig Shipp I was at a authorized dealer and I was looking at the Spring Drive Diver because I had seen your videos and the sales associate said let me show you this watch and that was the “Snowflake” and I was impressed and now want one of the two. Oddly enough she said the prices were in the $3,000’s each for brand new on both watches. I’m wondering now if those prices were read wrong because of the online prices

I would rather buy a Rolex Oyster perpetual, everybody recognises Seiko as a poor man's anime watch anyway so choose Rolex instead. Japan is mostly known for anime not watches.

I own this watch since 6 months. Technologically this is the best watch you con imagine. The movement, the titanium case, the overall finishing quality and and and is just more than outstanding. At the same time the maketing for this watch is just more than a catastrophy. This is why the watch is loosing value in the marketplace, even from its ridiculous low price, wich is around USD 5000, and sells on the second hand market for only 4000. Bad marketing. A Rolex often doubles its price in a few weeks after being introduced to the public, and is still growing. Good marketing.

What price range should I shop for this at? I've seen them on eBay between $5k-$8k. I don't know if I would pull the trigger for anything over a couple hundred bucks on eBay...Where should I buy one if I do?

Like your camera, Craig.Hope you can catch how the mirror finished indices and hands reflect with the lights. You can even see this from afar from somebody else wrist. Spectacular. Perhaps, you can take out the individual links and compare them with the standard Seiko and the Swiss made. The Rolex end links are actually hollow until recently but still machine made.

Craig, you know Piaget has also came up with a version of spring drive and soon more will jump into the band wagon to have a bite on the cake. 90% will be spent on marketing and you get only 10% real value and end price will be very high. Seiko uses their big fan base and social media to sell their products and reward them with lower price in return. GS has only being in the world market the recent 5 years though they have produce them long ago. In the long run, people will go back to basic and look at values.

Craig, hope the next video u can pick up details on the case which i think most people missed. U see that there is mirror polished like those on your diver and a texture polished which resembles the snowflake on the dial. All my 9 GS has different case designs with diff polish combo to go with the diff type of dials with various kinds of indices and hands. They are all pieces of hand crafted art.

Craig, i made a mistake with the above. Looking again closely at all the gs that i have ( i have poor eyesight) with my son, we see that there 4 diff kinds of clear polish apart from the brush finish. One is mirror clear which you can see on the kimono case with peacock dial. One is like what u see on the top-edge of the diver and the peacock. One is like the side of the diver and the last is what u see on the side of the snowflake. I see that my Rolex Airking polish is that of the side of the diver. The Hulk and the Batman are like those on the side of the snowflake. They don't the mirror finish. The ring surround the lume does not glitter like in the GS diver. This is the first time i really pay closer attention. Too many watches, hahaha..

I don't think so. But there are several here on RU-vid. With the right tools it's easy to do. Easier than the tiny screws GS uses in some models.

Love the beautiful texture of that dial but the power reserve on the dial is unnecessary and ruins the overall symmetry for me

Correct, I fixed the clasp after the video. I liked the Snowflake but I sold it because I've been wearing the SBGA231 titanium diver most of the time. It's easier for me to read without my reading glasses. I also have an 18k gold GS dress watch that I wear when dressed in a suit. So that's a perfect rotation for me.

How much does this cost ? On Chrono24 it costs more than a Rolex Oyster perpetual. So no use buying one of these when you can get a Rolex for cheaper.

Yes. One thing that doesn't come across on video or photographs is the snow-like _sparkle,_ just like real snow in sunlight. My guess is that most videos are shot using diffuse light which kills the effect.

You could apply the same logic to Rolex, Omega, and any other expensive watch. Luxury watches are just that. They are expensive items that you want vs. something you need.

Steven Robinson you didn't get the point mate. SpringDrive is not Mechanical Watch. So if you want to buy Hybrid (mechanical+quartz) then why spend $10,000. Buy Seiko Kinetic for $500. Kinetic is Hybrid too. I would exactly say the same thing if he bought Omega Quart and made a video about it.

Craig Shipp Thank you Brother. End of the day you love the watch and that is what matters. Men hours spent to make this watch is far more than Rolex or Omega and it is more exclusive. Mechanical or not doesn't matter. Omega or Rolex have a movement mostly ETA 2824 based which is not more expensive than producing a quartz. So mechanical doesn't mean it is better. My only criticism was when you compare Spring Drive to Rolex SUB which was not fair. Because SUB is a design icon. I am repeating again. DESIGN ICON. Whereas GS still haven't had anything as a design icon in history books.
