Slick; the sapphire bezel cap and dial detail MAKE this watch. A few judiciously chosen swatches of color complete the masterpiece. I'm a huge fan of these. Best, Tim
GS is getting better & higher.... kind of a good move for Seiko to drop it name to replace with GS at 12o'clock. The hand finished details is amazing. Great review Tim
Thank you, Alvin. The decision to employ sapphire bezel caps dramatically enhances the perceived richness of so-equipped Grand Seiko products. This one was a treat to share. Best, Tim
Hi Tim! Big fan of you here, watched most of your reviews! I own a GS Snowflake already. Very pleased with it. Saw your review on the SBGE215 (titanium with golden hands) and will never forget when you said: If you don’t like this model, we can’t be friends! Long story short. 4 months has been gone since then and my SBGE 215 arrived last week. Couldn’t be happier! KEEP UP YOUR GOOD WORK!!! Regards from the middle east
Hi Mario, thank you so much for following me from the Middle East! The SBGE215 is a BEAST!! Congratulations, and know that I'm *very* jealous. We can definitely still be friends :-) Wear your two Grands in great health! Best, Tim
Ian Gault sure let’s meet. Really looking forward to catch up with you and what you have to say about it! Bring your DSSD JC with you please as I had some wet dreams about it! 🤤
WatchBox Reviews....no asskissing here. But without a doubt, to me (and i am quite sure not only to me) you are BY FAR the best watch reviewer in the game. So passionate on your reviews and such a large knowledge in horology. Big respect for your good work! Cheers to the US from Doha/Qatar
Mario - couldn't agree more. I think Tim knows my thoughts on the team at WatchBox - in terms of knowledge, delivery and grammatical dexterity I really don't know of anyone else anywhere close to the man. Superlative in every respect. And my respect goes to all at WatchBox. Thanks guys from Doha.
Come on. You sound so guilty saying you think the finish compares to Rolex. Seriously put this next to a GMT II Master and explain just why one would be better off spending twice the price. It's fit and finish is better. It goes deeper,is far less affected by shocks or magnetic fields, and is more accurate. As far as the overall design, I think the Rolex looks clunky, stodgey, and utilitarian by comparison. This could easily pass as a dress watch. I will give the Rolex the win on it's use of lum. I think the Seiko could use some at each of the hour marks instead of just 12,3,6, and 9. Much as it would look really neat in the dark to have some on the second hand, I can live without it to keep the nice clean thin needle.
I made this same comment on the recent Horology House channel review of the recent Snowflake SBGA211, but I prefer the pre-2017 Seiko / Grand Seiko dials. I have the SBGE001, the prior version of this piece, and maybe it's because I'm used to the double logo but I like the 001 much better than this 201. However, if mine were to turn up missing, I'd have no issue at all getting this SBGE201 to replace it.
Horology House makes excellent videos; I'm a fan. As for the pre-2017s, I can see where you're coming from. The single large "Seiko" tag is true to Grand Seiko's heritage and sits more naturally than the somewhat crammed "Grand Seiko" of the current era. To be certain, they're all excellent watches. est, Tim
Grand Seiko should have used this bezel on their new quartz GMT. If they had used the sapphire cap on that watch, then it wouldn't so much look like a Rolex Explorer 2 copy.
Hi, thanks for the Great Review! One quick question. How would you compare the Grand Seiko SBGE201 to the IWC Aquatimer Jacques Cousteau edition? Thanks again
@@dpw1989Yep, even 42mm would be fine for a sports watch. That would take the lug to lug down to 49mm. Fantastic case, not so fantastic size unfortunately.
@@wuhanclan It definitely wears like a 42mm sports watch. The way the lugs are curved and conform to the wrist also makes it sit on the wrist like it's height is 12.5 mm. Lug to lug it's 50.2mm. On 7 inch + wrists it wears proportionally perfect for a sports watch.
