I absolutely LOOOOVE this game. I never bought the game but I had it back then and suddenly I lost it. After many months I found the game again and was the happiest person on earth. This is probably one of the only games I actually managed to play through as a child. I have the urge to just buy and play it right now.

Super underated game. I’ll never complain about having GTA on the go. Sometimes i’ll play this, Chinatown Wars, or San Andreas mobile when i’m on the bus or waiting for someone to meet up with me.
Liberty city looks totally unrecognisible in this game. There are a few places which look the same but are completely different because there are no hills which makes everything flat.
@James Williams Almost a week if there is a checkpoint for each side mission, a racing missions that I always reset if I miss the checkpoint EVERY SINGLE TIME.
The reason for me why I don’t like it that much is because while it had a great potential to be a good gta game, the graphics were so goddamn awful. And this game was only in Game Boy Advance.
at least im a kid who hates GTA V and plays San Andreas GTA III vice city and liberty city stories for my PS2 im gonna get the GTA advance once i fix my Gameboy

+podojun Actually,I am playing right now Grand Theft Auto Advance on PC (with the No$GBA/NomoneyGBA) :D This game is pretty cool and actually it takes place in 2000 before GTA 3! (GTA 3 was set in 2001) haha :D (I took Advance from Love Room/Emuparadise.me)
It's not the first GTA game I played, but it's the first I finished, and I loved it, it made me want to play and finish the rest of the 3D era of GTA, after this I played GTA III, GTA San Andreas, GTA Vice City, and GTA Liberty City Stories, and I finished them all, currently I started GTA Vice City Stories, now my goal, is to play and finish all GTA's in general before GTA VI releases in 2025 lol.

I don’t remember any of this , all I remember is beating the game having a tank all the guns and money, I remember it having a lot of replay value, crazy to think they had this on gameboy, I remember having it on my phone for sum reason but I could be mistaken
Why not? The GTAs from the 90s are much more entertaining than today's. Especially GTA 2, where you can choose which gang you want to join. It also has a great atmosphere. And as WrestleMotion said, I also enjoyed GTA Advance a lot and I still play it sometimes.

This is NOT how you play this game. You have to strafe while shooting. You run and shoot. That's not how you play it. It's strafe and shoot. That's what brings the action in this game.
For everyone dissing the graphics, look at the game on a gameboy advance. It is incredible. Considering its a cartridge, they made a great game. This and china town wars are unique at this point in the series. GTA II on dreamcast is still best overhead GTA game
I always admired how they managed to do a GTA Game in such a limited platform such as the Game Boy Advance, that's why I love this game so much, they managed to do a lot with less, and I dont care for the graphics, if the game is fun and entertaining, it's completely worth it.
I imagine that there is a sequel to this game, but the setting is in Vice City. And you get some fancy, but shortened instrumental versions of 'Act Like You Know' or 'Rockit' playing in the bground.
for all the haters in the comment section who complain this game this game is awesome with these GBA graphics. Go play and try this GTA 1, 2 and advance and see how the difference with top down games.
Kinda ironic that the games name is GTA "advance", but it is way less advance than other gta's at the time.... this was released at 2004.... and i know the "advance stands for Gameboy Advance.
GTA 1 did not have great missions, but, "Assault Joint" is very different from that. The 68th and final mission of the game see Mike and his love split up, and finally, handle the mafia families of Liberty City. But that's not all, we also get to take down the villainous and backstabber King Courtney, as well as take down his men with our rocket launchers and Uzis, before having one of the greatest shootouts in the game's history, between you and Courtney's men. All before finally having ANOTHER amazing shootout between the cops and you and finally finishing the job by... *you guessed it!* leaving the city. God, Assault Joint represented GTA 1, and that's what I loved about it!
I know there's a GTA III Mod that tries to put GTA Advance in 3D, but that mod is very old and outdated, we need a new mod, improved and polished one, with story missions in it, and good 3D models of the characters such as Mike, not just a "painted over" Claude model lol.
I played this game waaaaay back in the day, i never did get to pass it because i got stuck on that timed mission where you have to eliminate the yardies gang

Love to see young kids saying this game is bad by comparing a 2004 game released on the gba with the actual 3D console games. This was great for the time and the console it was released. And the story was the best gta story in my opinion.
GTA V has more content than this game.More cars,more weapons,you can fly fucking planes,driving and shooting mechanics are better,the camera is better than that of the 2d era games,plus you can play as 3 different people!
