Grandia RANKED from WORST to BEST 

For me Grandia is the best brings back the memories when I was in highschool

The first 2 grandias are impeccable, true masterpieces... And the 3 is excellent despite not being on the same level as the Grandia 1 and 2. For me if I were to choose the favorite it would be the Grandia 1.

The original Grandia is such a beautiful game. It makes me think of working designs. How I wish that gaming company still existed.

Playing right now Grandia 2 and it's ok. To be honest, the first game made me fell in love and it's one of my favorite jrpgs but the second one is kinda... yea pretty good but it's not in my top 10.

Grandia II is my all time favorite. I read somewhere that there won't be another Grandia since the original writer/director Takeshi Miyaji passed away and that came from his brother Yoichi.

3 has the weakest story and characters but the best gameplay. Probably my favorite turn based battle system

For me, the first Grandia is just so much better it's not even a contest. Then there is 2, and way after all the rest.

All other Grandia games don't even touch to I and II imo.

I like that in Grandia 2 the 'It can still be pretty challenging' was said while the eye-of-valmar fight was going on. On my first playthrough that was only boss that I actually lost to, iirc due to a deluge of status effects.

Love Grandia! And that you used "The Three Young Women" in the G1 section - one of my favorite songs from that game and still on my phone today! "Deck Swabbing" and "Complete Victory" also hold a special place in my heard.

Just finished Grandia 2, was really impressed with the characters. I thought they did a great job of building them and their struggles.

Wow, I was in my second year in college when the first Grandia was released. Back then, I was fully into JRPGs and couldn't get enough of them. The first two Grandias were pretty cool. I never played the third one.

Yeah, I couldn't finish Xtreme as well... As far as my taste goes I really liked the 3rd one, I might be the only one judging by the comments, but something in the plot may actually clings to me. Well, the initial tutorial part anyway, very heartwarming. Also it was the very first one for me. Love-love!

Jokes aside. You've been doing a pretty nice work buddy! What you do in your videos saying and stating your true oppinions and feelings is to teach people to express themselves and being truth to who they are and your oppinions! You do not chose the most praised game, but the one that you trully apreciate! That is nice!!

2 is one of my fav jrpgs and has a lot of nostalgic value for me. The characters, music, and story were great. Although I would actually say it was too easy. I'm surprised to see 2 at the #1 on this list though because most people always say 1 was better which I have not played.

I remember playing Grandia 3 and getting amazed by the graphics. However, the story was boring me to the death, so I've ultimately dropped it.

Games/Series that needs to come back and/or get remasters: Breath of Fire series, Earthbound/Mother series, Secret of Evermore, Illusion of gaia, Lufia, Suikoden series, Fencer Musashi, Legend of Dragoon, Shadow Hearts, Alundra, Vandal Hearts, Shining series, Xenosaga, Star Ocean (earlier games), Lunar series.

Very well-done video, even if I strenuously disagree with your assessment of Grandia II. You really laid out what makes each installment of the series stand out from the rest.

I would say worst to best xtreme, 3, 2, 1.

Grandia 1 is the best in terms of story, character and plot. The only thing that I hate about it is the amount of grind that you have to do to unlock all the skills. It's the only RPG I played that really feels that you're an adventurer in an adventure. Grandia 2 has a good story but suffers from a badly written dialog but it has good leveling mechanic.

Grandia 1 the best by far for me great story easily 50h game whit nice side quest. Grandia 2 is good game but is overated for me, common this game is 20-25h, ultra easy whit no side quest, ok story .

We only got 1 and 2 here in the UK sadly. And out of those I loved 1 the most although 2 is fantastic as well. The original was one of the best RPG adventures I have experienced.

I've only played the first two games, and the second one only recently-- the first was the game that my family had when I was growing up, and so because it was a part of my childhood it'll always have a special place in my heart. Still, I did really enjoy the second one, although I was tripping out because it was so similar to, and yet so different from, the first one.

With the exception of Parallel Trippers, which I've never played, and having to build up the resource needed to use skills in Grandia Xtreme, the battle system in all of the other Grandia games is actually identical. While I know it had a different name than whatever it was called in the later games, being able to move your characters around the battlefield to avoid attacks has been there since the original Grandia. I think it was just called "Move" and it let you pick from various spots on the battle map to move your characters to. It is not a feature added in a Grandia 2 as you assumed. Grandia is one of my top 10 favorite RPGs of all time, so I can't sit back and hear misinformation spread about it lol

I got traded a japanese Dragonair card for Grandia II because a buddy of mine didn't like it. Grandia II is equally as good as Skies of Arcadia on Dreamcast. I couldn't believe that they managed to fit such a large game with voice acting on one GD-ROM.

This enlightened to the fact there were more than 2 grandias in the world. Had absolutely no idea there were 5 more???? Also Grandia 1 was on the Saturn! I didn't even know it was on the Playstation til this either...lol

I would like a US retail release of 1 and 2. Of the 4 games I played my rank would be from last to best: Xtreme, 3, 2 and 1. I liked growing the the spells through use like in 1 more than just allocating points, as it made you try all of your skills. And 1 was actually the second one I played, as I got into the series with the grandia 2 on dreamcast.

Grandia 2 definitely is number 1. Great dark story and improved combat from the 1st game. Grandia 3 has a very lacking story.

Very mature and professional of you to put 2 higher than 3 in the list for the admitted reasons. I played both and 3's gameplay felt pretty solid, but yeah those difficulty spikes make me play in bursts than smoothly. But 2 grips me so hard with its story, a world where god not only lost the battle against the devil, but died too, leaving Only the devil and these people have to live in a world where the devil will return. That overarching idea is pretty gripping from the base.

Grandia 1 and 2 are the best to me. . . Grandia 2 is extremely challenging though very rewarding.

Grandia III would be my favorite if not for the song that plays in Baccula... that sound still gives me nightmares.

I had a double disk burned copy of Grandia 2 for the dreamcast and I have to say it's my all time favorite RPG of all time, disk 2 was corrupted so I was always renting the game from time to time, to finish it. Love that game, RIP to the series and creator.

I've only ever played Grandia 1 and I loved it. I still have my PSX copy.

Overall, I like the 1st Grandia the best, due to memories, its battle system (which has you changing weapons to learn all skills), & its simpler story, focused on "adventure" at 1st, but then builds into something not so predictable. G2 is my 2nd fave (but my favorite story-wise), and G3 my 3rd. After that, I have Extreme, but it just didn't keep me hooked, because it's more challenge- than story driven. So I Iost interest. I'd love a Grandia 4, but, well, that'll likely never happen, due to Miyaji's passing.

Was a little disappointed that Grandia only ranked 3rd, BUT to my defense never got the chance to play Grandia 3 so I digress xD Though I totally agree with Grandia 2 taking the top spot. It had such a hooking story and that battle theme was always hype, never got tired of that!

I agree to the haters of Grandia 3. The short story content (20 to 25 hours only) and the lack of side quest really hurts the game! BUT Grandia 3 battle system is the Best Turn Base even to this day 2021!

Was praying Grandia 2 got a high rank. It is my favorite Jrpg combat system. Spent hours grinding the optional map. Speedrun the strong monsters over and over. Fought Valmar..used power seeds and one shotted Valmar with a Tenseiken Slash. My jaw dropped..😅

Grandia 1 was the best. I wished mmorpg with that kind of combat system and histories would still be a thing, but that games are not being developed anymore...

grandia extreme, beat the game long ago, so hard coz i played the japanese version, just relying on trial and error.. farm the lucky mink for months just to lvl most character to 140 above, then beat zenotlee.. now i can't believe i beat this freaking hard game 🎯

Before watching your video Erick London.... I was expecting to find something.... Something hidden.. Something that could be smelled and seeing at miles of distance... something not to rare this days, and after all when it comes to games... In every single one of this seven games I tried, tried so hard to strip down every detail in each one of this games... Music, Graphics, Gameplay.... I was almost there, in the verge of get it on.. But for little, just little to nothing I did not find what I was looking for..... I did not find any................ .....................................UTTER TRAAAAAASHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I just can't deal with 3. The super unbalanced difficulty, and the fact that nearly every character story and plot thread get dropped with rarely any kind of resolution. On top of that, Miranda and Alonso were by far the best characters in the game, and they just poof out of existence just to basically never appear again only, what, a quarter of the way through the game? Not a fan. From least favorite to favorite - 3 < X < 1 < 2

After playing grandia and grandia 2 I bought xtreme as soon as I knew about it. I remember playing and finishing it and thinking, what that's it? I was disappointed because as much as I enjoy grandias battle system, it was the story that kept me engaged...

I would put Grandia 1 above 3. Just finished 3 a week ago and was absolutely baffled by how half-baked the plot and cast were. I was waiting for Yuki's mom and Alonso to pop back into the story the whole game, but they never did! His mom wasn't even around to take care of her grandson which was really weird. Even one of the villain generals just evaporates from the story late into the game for no reason. It's like they ran out of money 3/4 along the way and just wrapped everything up. Very shocked and disappointed at the otherwise decent entry.

for me Grandia 2 and 3 tied for first for me and can't decide which is better. Grandia 2- Better Cast of Characters High Level Techniques had the best animation style Better Story Better Battle UI Better Soundtrack overall Better dinner table skits Grandia 3- Better character Models Techniques animations consistently good Better Cutscenes Airplane Mode helped made the game feel almost like an open world game despite it being linear Better Menu UI roaming camera isn't as clunky. If Grandia III followed the story of Miranda and Alonso instead the kids it would have been my favorite JRPG of all time. A Grandia game about a young mom dealing with her son going off and becoming an adventurer while also rediscovering her own love of adventure while sailing around the world with a gambling addicted beastman sailor would have been way more interesting than whatever Grandia III was actually about.

I think GRANDIA 3 has the best battle system ( those Arial finishes really do it for me). GRANDIA 2 has the best magic system though.

My personal rating: 1. Grandia (By far the best) 2. Grandia II 3. Grandia Extreme 4. Grandia 3 / Parallel Trippers The first game has a sense of charm and adventure that no other game I've played has matched, it's beautifully upbeat and to my mind has the best cast by far. While I enjoyed the second game it was comparatively short and was missing that spark that made the original stand out. I found Extreme pretty hit or miss, but ultimately it was a dungeon crawler focused on combat for those that enjoyed it in the series. Grandia 3 I found to be a huge disappointment, a game that started strong but after the first few hours devolved into a lacklustre experience in every respect other than the battle system -- while it's a trait shared with Extreme, unlike Extreme Grandia 3 was a main series game rather than a dungeon crawling spin off. Parallel Trippers was a passable little game but not my cup of tea, although in fairness I've never liked mobile gaming which tainted my experience somewhat.

Grandia2 soundtrack evolves us deeply into the story, and also charismatic characters. Grandia 3 has a linear story btw, but better graphic and cinematic scenes

Got say, its odd not to see Grandia 3 at the bottom of the list or just above Extreme. I admit that the game isn't as good as 2, but it feels like it gets way too much hate. I never finished Grandia 1, and for the dumbest reason. I played it in the last few years as a Ps3 download. Saved the game in a tavern towards the end of the game, loaded it up next time... and was spawned inside a table and couldn't move. What a way to end an adventure....

If there will be Grandia 4 I hope Mullen and Leen become playable.And they parrallel trip to past Icarian fall.

Grandma 2 is my favorite and I'm just now trying the 3rd game which is better than the 1st one.

My favorite Grandia is the first, then second, Xtreme and third one. I did enjoy most of the first one even it was clearly rushed on some moment but every game does have their flaws. Second game is then dark game overall and pretty much opposite idea from first game which I liked some moments but overall not really compare to how first game did with theme overall. Xtreme was lot of fun and some real difficulty but not too hard really but it just goes too long and especially some dungeons were too long and empty. Grandia 3 is then something that they really tried to add all kind of things and go back to first game with some themes but kinda failed. Battle system is good but little bit sloppy on some moments and not that interesting overall as I could not really finish it.

Grandia II was the first jRPG I played... found it in local shop for PC. It absolutely spoiled my taste as most other games in the genre don't even come close to its gameplay, systems, or story... I mean, if you don't count Tales of Symphonia and Final Fantasy X completely ripping it off... Played Grandia 3 some time after, good game but writing shows another hand... didn't know the original author passed away. Grandia 1 is HILARIOUS, but I only started it just got to the part Mass Effect ripped off. Also the PC port is good, why can't Square get their 2D games to look like that, either blurring or pixelating the sprites instead?
