I just finished re-patching my studio in time for another Funk Jam. Always loved the groove in 'The Message' by Grandmaster Flash. I've stripped it back and recreated it using some of my favourite synths. 🎹🥁🎹
Drums - Oberheim DX
Bass - Moog Multimoog
Synths - Roland Jupiter 6, SCI Prophet 5 & Moog Grandmother
Solo - Arp Odyssey

It was pretty simple. Just a sawtooth wave with very short decay and sustain. There was a little LFO modulation on the pitch too.

nice as always, the message was originally created only with the Prophet 5 and the DMX oberheim that have more dynamic and the sound are better than the DX.

I had a DMX a few years back. The snare sounds are the same but I prefer the kick drum and percussion on the DMX. However I do prefer the hi hats and clap on the DX.

amazing playing and re-creation.. U have some nice and hard to find keyboards there..The ARP Oddessy however in my opinion is a turd..Ive seen casio keyboards at yardsales that had more quality....

the last 2 kick drums in the riff dont seem fast enough. it should almost swing a bit. not sure whats going on there. do ya know what i mean? lol great job tho
