I bought all my cars with my own hard earned money, I never received free gifts from anyone. I don't even celebrate Christmas cause it's a Pagan Holiday. Everything I own I earned it, I didn't get sponsored by Mommy and Daddy.

@@mikenonya6382 I'm going to have to replace my current car soon. I toyed with the idea of buying a 1985 Cadillac Eldorado, the favorite of all my past cars. Unfortunately, it just doesn't make sense. Modern cars are better in every way...except comfort and style.

My Dad was an executive for a major chemical company and earned a rather nice salary. He tended to splurge on his seven kids, but Mom put her foot down when he wanted to buy my oldest sister a new car when she turned 16. So he bought her a very clean used Pontiac Grand Prix. She turns 65 this year and _still_ talks about that car. Dad gave his Trans Am to my oldest brother for his 16th birthday and my next brother got his dream car, a Datsun 240Z, and it was about 5-6 years old. I was the only kid to get a new car, but I paid for part of it with the money that I earned as a child model when I was little. Mom and Dad wanted me to save it for college, but what 16 year old kid is gonna turn down the chance for a new car? A 1983 Toyota Celica GTS....and I drove it till the wheels fell off. Point is... none of my parents' kids ever took anything for granted. Some of our friends gave us gruff because we didn't "work for it", but if you think keeping up a 3.5 GPA to keep your car _isn't_ work, think again. I missed many a night out with my friends because I was hitting the books to keep my grades up. And there was the whole "Dad giveth... and taketh away." Timmy lost his Trans Am for the whole summer when Dad caught him smoking in the basement. Totally killed the social life of the most popular boy at school! And of course, my siblings, who still contend that I got "special treatment" always point out the time I got pulled over by the Port Authority police for doing 88 mph on the Verrazano bridge, trying to get back home to PA for curfew. Dad let me off with just a stern warning! Though I had to pay the ferociously expensive ticket...!

Should have taken it back from him.
