I've got a huge pile of video cassettes from 1982 onwards full of BBC and ITV programs which I will now be converting to digital for upload. Could be some real gems.
@SunshineonLeith2016 Hi no problem. Unfortunately due to some health issues everything was put on hold but thanks to the wonders of modern medicine I'm on the mend and feeling ready to tackle a huge backlog of projects.
Oh to be 12 years old again!! Back in 1991, Dad would be sitting in his chair with a cup of tea watching Grandstand while Mum did the ironing...just the song brings back so many family memories of life back in the early 90s.
Around 5 hours long with loads sports being shown mostly shown live Grandstand during its time was simply the best way to watch sports and it is very sadly missed
I used to love the 'boing' bit in the opening credits as a kid, used to get so excited when they changed them and the 'boing' happened on a different sport (football hitting the camera was my favourite) :D
I saw Bob Wilson presenting ITV's coverage of an England Euro 96 match that was repeated on ITV4 the other week, I didn't know he was at the BBC as well!
Incredible how many sports they used to cram in - it wouldn't really work or satisfy anyone now. At this point, they didn't have a regular Football Focus because they didn't have the League rights.
'speeds Britain back into the world group' lol! deju vu. it could be today. 20 years and nothing has changed. Interesting to see volleyball being shown. Next year of course will see British teams in the Olympic Games.
