30 years later and back at the school first used for location shots. Great people, very genuine and many of them were emotional as many hadn't been there since they filmed in the late 1970s Not all of the cast could make it
Watching Grange Hill years ago when I was the same age as the characters never felt like a fictional school It felt very real to me and I loved it.. The characters feel. Like old school friends too...
Fantastic film brought back many happy memories of watching Grange Hill. Also you have a really professional tv voice. You could be the next voiceover for the BBC if you every fancy a change of career!
I would love a school reunion as I went to a comprehensive in Dagenham from 1980 to 1985.Wonder what one or two of the girls I fancied would look like now?!I bet some are grandparents-now that is frightening!
I am sorry 😢 to hear that Nicholas Donnelly who played Mr Craig McKenzie from 1985 to 1993 is series 8 to 16 died in January 2022 and Gwyneth Powell who played Mrs Bridget McCluskey from 1980 to 1991 is series 4 to 14 died in September 2022. Very sad 😔. Both can rest in peace ☮️. Grange Hill happened for 30 years from 1978 to 2008. Rest in peace ✌️ Grange Hill. 🙂
Anorak trivia - Michael Percival who played Mr Mitchell in the first two series of GH popped up in a bizarre cameo several years later in the film "CLOCKWISE" as a guy pis**ng against a tree !
Not the original school from series 1. Fulham Prep (the one in the video) was used from 1981 (not sure when it finished getting used). The original school from series 1 was Kingsbury High school and was used from 1978-1981.
@@keith79mod11 Kingsbury was used for series 1 & 2 for all the exterior filming. The hall at Kingsbury was used in a few episodes of series 1 & 2. But all the class room scenes were done in studio. Series 3 and series 4 the exterior filming of the school was Willesden Green high school. This was very similar to appearance to Kingsbury, and a lot of people think it was the same school. Willesden Green High school was demolished in 2003. Series 5 the exterior filming moved to Hammersmith, at the then named South Thames College. It is now called Fulham Prep School.
this was actually the third school to be used for grange hill kingsbury high school was the original used for series 1 and 2 ,willesden high for series 3 and 4 while fulham was used for series 5 to 8
@@frankyuptown Yes, I know Robert Hartley (Mr Keating) and the actress who played Miss Mooney are no longer with us, but as far as I am aware, all the others I mentioned are still alive, it would have been good to see them.
Definitely not the original School. The original score was Kingsbury High North West London. According to a friend of mine who went there it was only used for maybe one or two episodes but he may have that wrong but it was definitely the First School they used for Grange Hill
For some reason Mark Savage who played Gripper is not anywhere much on RU-vid. I thought there would be interviews through the years but perhaps he wanted to just stay out of the limelight as he got older.
The Gripper scenes became pathetic. Week after week after week you had this school bully literally torturing the other kids, particularly Roland, yet it took forever for him to get his comeuppance. The scene with him forcing Roland to roll on the floor was brutal. You just wanted someone to come along and stick up for Roland - smash Gripper in the face. It never happened. They prolonged the bullying storyline for way too long just for the sake of 'good TV'
