I’m so glad I grew up in the 90s and 00s! The last few final years when being kid was a truly authentic experience spent playing your mates, and not your nose stuck in a iPad
You are right. I feel the same. Even if we had our noses glued to a TV screen or were playing video games, it was not 24/7. We'd go around each others' houses to play multiplayer games- not online, like today. It felt more personal- more human. Technology, such as the internet, is great. However, I feel we were better off in some respects, back then. Good old simple days.
I am watching this on my iPad, now I can take it everywhere and anywhere- isn’t that a good thing?, nothing wrong with being stuck on your iPad learning, playing, reminiscing and connecting with the world as we are right now. Kids of today will be doing the same in 30 years - claiming things were better in the 2010’s, they might say at least people did not wear VR all the time :).
This was my era as well, this theme brings back very fond memories of coming back from school and just sitting on the sofa and hoping I could watch as much as possible before dinner 📺
Thank you so much for this! This video brought back so many memories...I remembered some of the imagery from this intro so well as well as the theme tune. So 90s, so great!
Am I the only person who actually likes this era of Grange Hill best? I'm 20, so I grew up after the show had ended, but I watched every series on RU-vid when I was about 14, and the 90s era just had a perfect level of drama and some really great characters. I know most people think the 80s were best, but I honestly enjoyed the 90s so much more!
No you're not the only one, I liked Grange Hill when it was in the 90s and early 2000s as well the theme tune. Another thing I liked about Grange Hill is the blue navy jumper they had when it was first introduced in series 17 when Arnie, Dill, Jessica etc were introduced in,.
I like the generic cola can. I think it was a secretive pact between schools back then, that tuck shops could only sell either Panda Cola or Rola Cola.
Speaking as an old school Grange Hill fan (stopped watching 1990) this opening sequence isn't as good as the original...or the 2 opening sequences afterwards (1989 and 1990). Also, isn't it terrible that it's a programme about a school and the put the school's name beginning with lower case letters. *sigh*
And yet in that very last sentence, you too made a typo. You said "the put the school's name" instead of "they put the school's name", even leaving it like that when you went back and edited your comment.
