I worked in both the refinery and BP chemicals with various contractors - HPC, Cape, DAD Munro and Wilkie-Hooke. An interesting site to work in but very dangerous - when the fire occurred at the jetties in the 1990s I had just finished my shift there and came home to see the news footage of my workplace going up in flames.

My husband, Phil Thomson, worked and checked out on all four units at PetroIneos - sulphur unit, hydrogen unit, ? and then the hydro cracker and as SAS of the one team. He worked there 20+ years before taking voluntary redundancy in 2019. For those who worked with Phil and don't know... he passed away on 20th October 2023 aged 53 years 😞😭. He always enjoyed working there and worked with some great guys.

I knew Phil and didn't know he'd pass away. I'm so sorry to hear that. He was a good guy.

I've always liked seeing it when it's lit up at night. As an ordinary bod, I wouldn't be allowed in, so thanks for this.

Hiya, sorry if this is a strange question but I am a siren enthusiast and I usually go to Grangemouth to catch the siren tests that go off on a Monday and Friday at 11:45AM and for the Semi Annuals aswell. This side seems to be the side where the Monday ones go off and I was wondering if there are any sirens seen onsite, there was one I did see and it was a Hörmann ECN-3000 at the site of the vehicle at the night footage but I was wondering if any more can be seen in this video

There are many sirens on site yes. I doubt you'd be able to make them out on the video though due to the height I was flying. I've no idea what the make of the siren is though, sorry.

@@coconutislanddrones That’s ok, I know they are manufactured by Hörmann Warnsysteme anyway lol which is a German company, and sorry to ask again but do you know how many sirens are on the site?

@@hmsirensandfirealarms I've no idea sorry. A site that size and with noisy units there would be a few I reckon. When they installed the current ones, maybe 12 years ago or so I happened to be standing right next to the one on 7th street when they tested it. I didn't realise I was next to it so you can imagine my reaction when it went off lol.
