You are so creative, Lori. I love getting inspiration from watching your videos. Have you ever considered giving a tour of your home? I think your followers would really enjoy that.
I have granny squares everywhere! Granny squares crochet, quilting and now cross stitch. My grandkids are having fun with it too they decide what colors go next. When they come over they say are we gonna work on our granny squares MiMi? What memories these blankets and quilts will be.❤️
I enjoy the crochet of centers. I like the spray painted muffin tins you made that for centers and buttons Thank you for all your help. Walk in Peace..
Really enjoying crocheting the granny squares. While I am waiting for Fat Quarter Shop to get more chunky thread in I have been digging into my yarn stash and making granny squares. So far I have made a baby blanket out of those squares. I learned how to crochet at 6 years old, was always fun for me. I'm 51 now, so clearly this is right up my alley. I never heard of blocking the granny squares, so that was new to me. Thanks Lori, you are my favorite fabric designer ❤
Can’t wait till Happy Little Stitch Shop gets all the colors in. Thanks for the print out chart of the colors. Makes it pretty and easy to keep track of. I had kinda made my own with the name and piece of the yarn. So far I have 19 of the colors. I am enjoying crochet after years and years of not doing yarn projects. I want to have all the colors in my stash to pull from for future projects. 45 Granny squares and counting.
Hi Lori love your RU-vid videos so much information and wonderful projects. I have all you books they are my go to for my quilts inspection. Thank you!!
Hi Lori, I dabbled just a tiny bit into quilting and I’m not sure if it’s quite my jam yet. Love love love crocheting, a new hobby for me since spring, and I do appreciate your crocheting videos. So, selfish me is asking you to please continue creating crochet videos. I learn so much from you! 💜🧶🪡
I'm ready to learn how to crochet and use my sampler packs of chunky thread and buy the newest colors. I'll just close my eyes and randomly pick color combos for my grannies.
Hello! I hope you had a cheerful day! I was visiting my grandkids and all 3 of them tired me out in a happy way! I hope you have a gentle and kind week ahead! Thank you for sharing your video and your talent.
Lori, every one of your videos lights a fire of inspiration for me! ❤️ I accept all of your challenges and hope to post soon! I LOVE the idea of starters - especially for travel! I am totally doing that! And your bowl and cupcake tins are so darling! Love all of that vintage fun! Our summer of granny fun is AMAZING!! 🤗❤️🥰
I started this project at the end of April and I did all 144 starters at the same time. I used yarn that I had in my stash. I had a lot leftover because I did a temperature blanket last year. I also made a spreadsheet to keep me organized so I wouldn’t make the same block twice. I was really concerned in the beginning because I didn’t know how to choose my colors. My inspiration came from other peoples blocks and floss packs from FQS. When using the floss pack colors, I found it so easy to get many blocks from 1 pack. Now I’m in the process of adding my 5th round color to all 144 squares. This has been so much fun.
Hi Lori!!! Your afghan is just beautiful!!! I am just learning to crochet by watching your wonderful tutorials and got my CHUNKY THREAD from FAT QUARTER SHOP!! I LOVE all the gorgeous colors !!! Thank you!!!!
I am so thankful for you teaching me how to crochet granny squares! It’s so much easier than I made it seem in my mind! Can’t wait for chunky thread to be back in stock at FQS!!!!
Love the idea of gathering up a bunch of starters! So excited I received more skeins of chunky thread this past week. Will really be happy when more choices are in stock. Have completed all the great granny squares for the quilt and will use inspiration from those colors to continue with the Afghan. Thank you 😊
Thanks Lori for another wonderful relaxing video. I just want to crochet all day after listening to you. BTW.. I got the same crochet pattern.. yours is a bowl mine is a plate! I have been getting my yarn at StitchitupVA, they had alot in stock the other day FYI
I have a serious mental block with getting started although I have crocheted in the past (many, many years ago). I like the idea of doing a bunch of starters and then attempt to move to the second round. It's worth a try. Thank you.
Thank you I never ever thought about that I just been doing one granny square at a time but if I make up a Lotta different ones like that and put them in I have a box that I can put them in so I could do that thank you that’s a great great great tip
Cris F Hi Lori..loved this update video on granny squares choosing chunky thread colors. I was beginning to feel like gravitated to the same colors. Ur always an inspiration to me & always helpful. I am almost finished with the great granny quilt so working on the crochet squares keeps me excited because the colors are so yummy. Thx for everything u do!
I love to see all the different colors of yarn and material. I wasn't going to make a quilt but after you've seen the various blocks I find myself wanting to do that now. The different shades of yarn and I love to crochet so it maked se
I love seeing your color combinations and have written them down. I pick four Chunky Threads and rotate the colors which then gives me four different granny squares. Rotating the colors gives a completely different look. Thanks for the Chunky Thread color chart. It helps me track all the colors.
I really like those colors in the assortment #4 of the mini skiens. I've got to go order that. I hope that fat quarter shop has it in stock. I love seeing all of your crochet granny squares and then the fabric ones that match them. You're so creative and I'm very impressed you could remember all of the names of those fabrics.
This was a very inspirational video. I can’t wait until all of your colors are in stock so I have more colors to have fun with. I liked the idea of taking four or six if using sampler packs and rotating the colors.
Miss Lori, Have you considered making yourself a jacket from your squares? I have a lot of granny squares my mother made. I’m thinking about turning them into a coat for me. I’ve got to add this. My mother crocheted while traveling too. One time the car hit a bump and the crochet hook went into her thumb. They (Mom and Dad) made a trip to the local emergency room. Obviously she was using a small crochet hook.
What a great idea. I’m going to try this as a travel project. My daughter lives an hour and 15 minutes away and I tried stitching in the car but that hasn’t worked well.😊
Oh gosh! I loved this video! I can so relate to trying to make a starter when travelling. I can tell you which are the roughest roads between here and the Pilbara region in Australia!! Your tips are priceless and your inspiration second to none. Thank you Lori. 🙂
I wrote down all granny square colors and I’m making them now! Thanks for the idea. An inspiration for me is my grandma’s sheet blanket. I use it in summer, has soft greens, oranges, lipstick and so bird in it, oh also peony color. I’m not on insta gram and not sure if I can share here.
I’ve been having so much fun making granny squares! I’m planning to join the squares to a 14 or 16 inch square. Would you recommend making a front and back and joining like you have done with your large granny square pillows? Do you recommend blocking the squares after the fourth round or after adding the border but before joining. Thank you for sharing you time and talent with all of us!!
Hello my name is Kathy. my first time making a Granny square. first time for me trying to making a Granny square. and I found you Lori. I’m want to make a quit for my daughter. I will be crocheting. I have already ordered your second book. You have been talking about freebie’s in order to order them how do I go about getting any of them? Please help?
Miss Lori you mentioned an alpine chunky thread it was the 3rd granny square you showed and was the 4th color but I can’t seem to fine it! Also can you tell me or send me the links for the colors of the thread thank you so much and have a great weekend! Brenda
Don’t be scared. If you goof, you can just pull it back and startover. There are many wonderful videos showing each step! Go for it! You will be glad you did!
