Top work chaps, used to do oil myself don’t miss it having to clean my tools after every job, and smelling like it used to get back up. Having said that they are built to last never seen or heard of modulating oil boilers before.
Thanks for the comment. The jacket had totally rotted out. Not sure it had been power flushed last time and the prv had been weeping and they just kept filling it so low or no inhibitor. But yes i agree they are usually ok. Have a good weekenmd!
Nice one. Is there a particular reason why you fit an external electrical isolator? Couldn't you just use the fused spur inside the house for isolation?
Thanks for the comment. The reason we fit the isolator is for safe isolation when you work on it. It kills all lives to the boiler. It means you can work on the boiler even without the customer being at home and still isolate it correctly if required. Great question!
My Firebird boiler was due to be serviced today, but after he opened it up .. he said it's proper knackered, he doesn't know hows it's working, but it is, just not efficient.. So I'm getting solar panels installed in December, I checked the company they also do grant vortex condenser oil boilers.. How do you think they compare to the firebird ones... Thanks
Thanks for the comment. My opinion only, I would only fit a Grant Combi. If you keep on top of them they are ok. If i was to fit another make it would br firebird. Hope this helps
Hi. There is no relay as such on the later combis. We have had a run of the circulating pumps nw. you can tell as the red and orange lights are both on on the pump. Hope this helps?
@@BartonOilBurnerServices the hot water pump works fine, the heating one just won’t engage for longer then a second, even when pressing the service button.. tried another pump from my van and doing the same.. no air in system etc.. someone said it might be the non return valve after the pump so will check that tomorrow.. weird one as never had this issue before

Hi. Thanks for the comment. The tank height does not matter. If the oil pump is lower than the bottom of the tank that is good. If not then you need a tiger loop near to the boiler. we have a vlog on that so it will explain it for you, Have a good weekend!
@@BartonOilBurnerServices Thanks for your reply,how high from the floor is the oil pump?The tank base will end up being 17 inches higher than the kitchen floor will this be OK for gravity feed without a tiger loop?.
