Oh, there are definitely jobs out there (this video is on demand for grant writers: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qUFIg47J3t0.html). What's sparked your interest in grant writing? Career pivot?
"everything is figure-out-able" I'll remember that. My first project is one million dollars for a gym and classrooms for the private school at the church where I am a pastor.
@@LearnGrantWritingI'm tasked to work on it. I came from Software Development and QA background, these things are new to me but I'm trying to learn as much as I could. Your video is spot on from what I would assume it would be. What's your advise for someone like me who's just starting?
Hey there! Thanks for your response! Feel free to book a free 1:1 with our Grants Expert, Coach Rose. Dropping her calendar here in case you're interested: calendly.com/info-27065/1-1-call-with-rose-clone
@@nelpontejos hey sorry for the delayed follow up! My advice is summed up here: www.learngrantwriting.org/become-a-paid-grant-writer/ I prefer working with folks that are new to it. You don't have any bad habits or limiting beliefs. Your background with software dev and QA would dovetail nicely. It means you know a thing or two about project management and communication! Plus...I think you'd love the Ai grant writing software we built for internal use only. :) Want to drop us an email after watching that training I linked up? info@senworks.org
Congrats on the new job! Coaching is one of the services we offer in the Collective, so if you have more questions or need help with some additional homework, feel free to check out the deets to get started: www.learngrantwriting.org/webinar-videos/discover-grant-writing/
You're super welcome Emma! This is another stellar starting point (free grant writing class): www.learngrantwriting.org/free-grant-writing-course And, here's Meredith's latest book: www.amazon.com/How-Write-Grant-Writing-Unicorn-dp-1733395741/dp/1733395741/
Wow! I think I just blew out my speakers on the intro! Get that turned WAY down gf...have whoever does your sound mixing to just get the Intro toned down, or turn your voice way up so that they are similar. :)
@@LearnGrantWriting from what I've read, "grant writer" is the incorrect term, unless you're the one literally writing out the grant itself. You're writing a proposal in an attempt to win the grant, you're not actually writing out the grant itself
@@LearnGrantWriting I am! And I'm sorry if I sounded rude, I was just incredibly confused initially when trying to figure out the difference between "grant writer" and "proposal writer" until I started watching more of your videos and other resources
CAPTIONS!!!! Thank you. I had my first perspective client today. I felt like an idiot, then he asked for free work. Well, at least I don't feel like I lost to much.
I loved this video as a complete beginner. I have no idea what i'm doing or even if I want to pursue grant writing so this was a really helpful, very basic overview.
Yay thank you Kim for the feedback! Here is an additional training on how you might break into this field if you are interested. No prior experience required based on our method: www.learngrantwriting.org/webinar-videos/discover-grant-writing
Check out our free grant writing class RU-vid playlist or you can take it here: www.learngrantwriting.org/free-grant-writing-course Love that you are getting into this. Grant writing is an amazing skill!
Is this for the purpose of providing your services of "Grant Writing" or would this work for business owner looking to submit a grant to start a business?
Like any proposal, the format requirements are always dependent on what the funder asks for. We have a member in the Collective who also shared with us that she has found international grant proposals to require higher standards for measuring and evaluating impact than she has seen in regional and local grants. Great question! Are you looking to write international grants?
@@zeezinia nice! What are you trying to get funded? Have you taken our free mini grant writing class? If not, this is a good starting point: www.learngrantwriting.org/free-grant-writing-course
Very clear and helpful explanation. I have a tiny business (just me) and would like to learn how to write a grant for my business. I appreciate these tips 😊
Catching up on some comments here. That's excellent. You might also want to check out grants for for-profit businesses. You can find that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k0xLtbjsRpQ.html
@@LearnGrantWriting You have motivate me to try my first grant application. I recently found a $2,500 grant and while I was reading it I thought on some friends and family I know that could be of help. Today I am helping them to complete the application. This is going to be a test for me to see if this is something I am good at. I am really excited, i just want to help them.
@@isarisrebecaquinonesperez9290 Get it! Nice work! The only way to find out is to dive right in. Very excited for you. If it feels like a great fit, we'd love to have you in the Grant Writing Unicorn Collective.
As someone who is still in college and unsure of what to do after graduation, I was considering going into this part of the writing field. However, I desire to be a story writer. Would this option still be a good fit for me to get my foot into the writing field? I currently have the option to pursue a internship as a grant writer, but I do not know anything about it nor have I taken a course on grant writing.
All great questions. There is a facet of storytelling within grant writing, specifically as you craft a needs statement. I will also add that you do not need to be a writer to get into grant writing, contrary to what you might think. Grant writing requires straightforward, simple language. You can take our career fit quiz to see if grant writing is a good fit for you. You can find that here: www.learngrantwriting.org/successful-grant-writer-quiz/ The question back to you is, what kind of life do you want to build & what career can get you there?
@@LearnGrantWriting I did not realize you responded! Thank you for your help! I actually decided to consider taking an internship in grant writing. I will also be taking a course on grant writing at my college. I think it is a great opportunity for me to get deeper into the writing field
Yeah! That's so exciting that you'll be pursuing grant writing. You won't know if you like it unless you give it a try. University courses in grant writing are great at covering the foundation of writing, but they fail to fill the gap on how to take the skills you acquire into the real world. We're cheering you on and we'll be here when you're ready to utilize your skills in effecting real change while making money as a grant writer.
Yeh i'm not sure if i learned anything about actual grant writing here except "ahuh~ like... be the unicorn!!" Haha I'm sure she's a super lovely person but not what i was expecting
Rock on! Leveling up in learning is the way to go. If you're looking for additional training on how you might build on your A to Z training with an earn to learn model, with no prior experience required based on our method you can find that here: www.learngrantwriting.org/webinar-videos/discover-grant-writing
Hey Matt! Absolutely. In fact, I just got off a coaching call with a member who closed out the year, after intentionally working part-time hours, making over $50k. She said grant writing "allowed (her) the flexibility to juggle being a mother, wife, household manager and professional, in and around taking (her) kiddo to a special needs school." Stories like this are happening every day. Where are you in your grant writing journey?
@@LearnGrantWriting hey! I'm at the VERY beginning. I been somewhat successful at content writing and YT scripts but would like a bit more. I'm like the person you described, very busy but can be flexible enough.
No worries about being at the beginning of your journey. Everyone has to start somewhere. 😉 You're seeking flexibility and "a bit more," as you say. Got it. Grant writing would be an ideal lane for you, then. Plus, your skills as a content writer give you a head start in pivoting to a new career. What questions are coming up about getting into grant writing?
@@LearnGrantWriting I’m working with a business that established a 501c3 and is now seeking funding for projects we are planning. We were looking for a grant writer in our area but I decided I can take a crack at it. I have 0 experience writing grants but I believe I can do it.
