Looking at this Police officers reflection in the car window as he took that shot after all that he had just been through, I am amazed at his calmness and presence of mind, sorry for his colleagues.

Not an easy shot with a side arm at that range. Was in pain/wounded too. A shooter may be able to land rounds on target at roughly 50-yards max with a pistol. That's not to say pistols can't reach beyond that, but it takes an extreme amount of skill to land them on target at further ranges not to mention under pressure, fear, pain etc... only make a long shot harder to make.
He kept training after the academy and probably runs through these types of scenarios fairly often. Remained calm and summoned help and that shot he took was one he trained for. RIP to the two who lost their lives. Well done to the officer who put that dog down

Appears to have been an ambush, as one hid in camouflage in the bushes. This makes it especially evil. Glad the officer was able to take one out while under heavy fire (which was edited out of this report). Prayers for all families involved.

Very sad. My oldest brother was a police officer and died at 23 years of age. It is something my family still has a hard time to talk about it, 34 years ago.

This "report" didn't show anything at all. I'll wait till the real bodycam comes out on Police Activity. These news channels never show the whole story and just cherry pick a few 5 second bits from the body cam while talking over it. Waste of time.
This was the second time they encountered this individual that night I want the footage from the bar because that's what sent him over the edge or because he already knew one of the cops and had beef the dudes life fell apart and he snapped but hey we will never get the full story.
What is the full story? Was the shooter shooting for a reason? Did the shooter have a mental condition and in need of professional help which cops can not deliver? What really went down - don’t edit and sanitize.
It showed enough, no reason to show the officers getting killed and editing out some gunfire means nothing. The entire unedited tapes will be used in court

This officer was so calm and collected despite being wounded and his fellow officers ambushed. Being it nighttime just made the whole situation so much more frightening too.

To be able to respond at all,in any way,after being ambushed,watching both of your coworkers be shot and killed,take bullets yourself,still be under fire from the agressor,and to survive it,call for help,and have enough presence of mind and still be enough of a marksman to make that shot is worthy of public commendations. there are some disturbing things about this video. Number one is the producer of the video deciding what we should and shouldn’t see. Number two is giving a fraction of the information that we need to know. And number three is having a Police spokes person tell us that these three officers were utilizing their excellent training and all ended up getting shot. Was there eminent danger? Was there a search warrant? What were they doing on this huge piece of property in the middle of the night?

As a retired NYPD cop early 90s we always had gun training and actually role play for different situations. I always went to the gun range and practice drawing from my duty holster and my off duty holster till it was 2nd nature. Back then you were not allowed to do head shots and at the police range. But I use to make happy faces and a shot between the eyes and make a straight line down to the heart. Lol I would get yelled at but the supervisors were amazed. I tell anyone who has a gun you have to practice.

Gripped his weapon the way the firing instructor who kept tapping him in the shoulder telling him to adjust his grip, apply even pressure on both sides of the weapon, cheat the trigger until you hit the wall, line up your sights, breathe... He probably hasn't done all those things the way the instructor encouraged him to until today and the way he punched out .. gripped that weapon and fired 1 shot... the world probably muted in his mind, everything was magnified... And slowed. Never had a shot from his weapon mattered more. The instructor was in his ear behind the vehicle he used for cover. 1 shot 1 kill in the dark? All the reasons in the world to empty that magazine, no one would question him if fired of every round this night but all he needed was one... And he didn't even question it. He fired, then relaxed... He knew he hit his target almost immediately. Heightened senses came back down... It was over. Hey man, nice shot indeed. That was impressive.
I was also amazed that he only needed one shot to take out the murderer. That SOB got what he deserved, and like the officers he killed, never saw it coming. I'm a vengeful sort of woman, though - I wish he'd suffered before dying.
