Real time raytracing is the beginning of the end of the road toward real-time photorealistic rendering. This is amazing to see it come to life and starting this year, wasn't expecting it for a couple more years. We've been cheating our way around raytracing for years, can't believe we've reached this point now.

Not gonna lie. The games with ray tracing looks great but if the performance is worst than normal rendering then there will be a huge backlash.

They need to give us benchmarks not selling to us how good the shadows are especially when some of us turn DOWN shadows to get a higher framerate

I am an artist. I study art and history of art as well as I am an active artist. I know many are not impressed or intrigued by what Turing architecture and new real-time technologies are adding to the new level of depth and creativity. In comparison, however, think of the concept and introduction of chiaroscuro into art and design. The ability to add depth through contrast is what allowed for achieving unimaginable levels of depth and realism in 2-d, 3-d and eventually through photography and cinematography. New nVidia architecture and technology is going to achieve as powerful of a leap forward in thought and design in addition to A.I. based approach for filling the gaps and creating the links to move forward faster and further. I am excited to see what develops from the introduction of the new architecture and technology.

In every game the graphics look equally impressive! The future is Ray Tracing and A.I. which is made possible by NVIDIA's RTX. RTX is holding up with its real time reflections and shadows. The cards are doing a wonderful job rendering those super beautiful graphics!

Soon, game cutscenes are gonna be beating actual movie cgi for graphical fidelity.

This is unhealthy, this is extremely unhealthy for the present and the future. AMD offers open source technology so the community can evolve as a whole while Nvidia provides their own private technology that they keep to themselves. Why do you think AMD GPU either run similar to Nvidia or worse, because they can't update their GPUs to the technology that Nvidia is implementing. You don't believe me? Take the Witcher 3 and Tomb Raider as an example. Amd worked with square enix since the beginning and their GPUs ran well that is until Nvidia hairwork technology was introduced which completely destroyed AMDs preformance and since they can't update the drivers to a technology they don't know how it works their performance never recovered. On the other hand Tomb Raider utalised AMDs open source treseffect for hair, when Tomb Raider launched Nvidia GPUs performance took punch but that was quickly fixed because they can update their GPUs with drivers since the technology is open source.

Im just wondering, in game such as dying light when you're moving really fast and you've got a lot of camera shake, will there be a drop in quality? As much as some people are hesitant about this product, it really seems to be in consumers best interest in the long run. If Nvidia never took the risky steps to innovate then GPU's wouldn't be where they are today. Risky innovation is great for everybody in the long run

RTX 2080 Ti would change a lot in my work. I am currently an animation movie and advertisements developer. This would greatly enhance my work by greater processing speed and rendering. Adds more colour to my work and making real life like backgrounds . So i am desperately waiting for this giveaway win opportunity. My country is India. Hoping for happy news.😀

I must thank nvidia for setting the price so high for these gpu cards, I saved up 3k(aud) for them to get two, but you guys set the price at 2k(aud) for one of them. I saw the price and said no!!! SO now I thank you for rekindling my retro gaming collecting endeavor, I have spent well over 2k for retro games. I am really enjoying old school games that don't have raytracing: it just works.

Having personally experienced major graphical changes throughout gaming from Half-life 2 to the Crytek engine and now RTX..this truly is graphics reinvented, I never thought that graphics could have ever been improved from what it was for ages to come. However, every time I look at a new title now, I wonder if it is RTX compatible, that is how much Ray tracing has affected my thinking. And if that’s just not MY thought process, it just goes to show how big and awesome of a step this is towards graphics evolution. #GraphicsReinvented

Ray-tracing is a big leap since GameWorks. I like how Nvidia is advancing PC graphics. We PC gamers appreciate a good looking game.

That’s interesting. I never thought it would take so much resources to “mimic” real lighting effects in games and seeing how RTX does it so much better and how it’s apparently easier to implement; that could indicate that future AAA games would have less impressive lighting effects with RTX/ DX12 Ray tracing off.

Just imagine the performance of these kinds of cards in 2-3 generations from now!

This tech will make developers focus less on convoluted work-arounds to make the lighting in a level look realistic and more on the artistic aspects because all that fudging will not be needed anymore. I'm pretty excited.

I feel like it wasn't even that long ago that Nvidia revealed the 1080, which was amazing at the time, and now they have their 2080, which isn't just a small boost to the 1080, but a breakthrough in technological advancements in lighting!!! What will Nvidia do next???

I purchased a 1080 nearly three months ago because in June Jensen Huang said that next-gen GPUs wouldn't be available for a "long time". I doubt anyone would consider three months as a long time - what do I do now Mr Huang? How can we trust what you say in future?

It's going to be a very interesting decade for game development. I'm guessing development of a modern AAA game costs as much as a movie at this point. (And a movie relatively easier to make since you control every angle, no AI needed, etc...)
