Lyrics:
When I think of all the worries that people seem to find
And how they're in a hurry to complicate their minds
By chasing after money and dreams that can't come true
I'm glad that we are different, we've better things to do
When others plan their future, I'm busy loving you
One, two, three, four
Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today
Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today
And don't worry 'bout tomorrow, ay-ay-ay
Shah-la, la-la-la-la live for today (live for today)
We were never meant to worry the way the people do
And I don't need to hurry as long as I'm with you
We'll take it nice and easy, and use my simple plan
You'll be my lovin' woman, I'll be your lovin' man
We'll take the most from living, have pleasure while we can
Two, three, four
Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today, ay-ay-ay
Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today
And don't worry 'bout tomorrow, ay-ay-ay
Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today (live for today)
Baby, I need to feel you inside of me
I got to feel you deep inside of me
And baby, please, come close to me
I've got to have you now, please, please, please, please
Gimme some lovin', just gimme some lovin'
Gimme some lovin', just gimme some lovin'
Baby, gimme some lovin', just gimme some lovin'
I got to have all your love (gimme some lovin')
Babe, I need all your love (gimme some lovin')
And now I need all your lovin' (la-la-la-la-la-la-la)
Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today
Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today
And don't worry 'bout tomorrow, ay-ay-ay
Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today (no, no, no, no)
Shah-la, la-la-la-la, live for today...

This song was a hit when I was about 13 or 14, and I remember my dad ranting about how this is what is wrong with kids of today - they only care about today and don't think ahead. Like when were most kids any different?
@leavetherace
@leavetherace 6 лет назад
I think its the opposite now, kids are so pressured to live up to the expectations the world sets for them. They are trying to plan their lives out more and more and when one step in their plan fails they see it as the end of their world. Whether it is getting into that college or just being successful in general. Everyone can see your life and every detail, and I think Social Media has ruined the world.

The 1960's were full of fabulous rock groups. So many great groups. The Beatles were only one of hundreds of great groups, musicians, and thousands of truly fantastic songs. Great time to be alive back then when peace, love, music, and intimacy were all extremely important.

Wow, what a delicious slice of bygone American pop culture! I think these guys charted something like 29 singles, 10th on the all time Billboard 100 list, and its easy to see why., Their hits were bursting with so many memorable hooks you only had to hear a song once, and you couldn’t get it out of your head. The lyrics never sounded forced or trite, and seemed to flow naturally from the beautifully crafted melodies. Rob is gone, but the music lives on!

One day in the car with my father, this song came on, and he told me all about it. As he flew a chopper in vietnam this song wasn't about love, but embracing death and having it surround you at all times. 10 years after his passing I can't see this song any other way than a song reminding people that death will come to them sooner or later.

I love this group! And Jimmy Durante's introduction adds some gravity to the occasion. Most, if not all of the group's members have passed away, but "God has given, and God has taken away. Praise to God." Never forget the people in your lives. 'When a loved one becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure.'

On this day in 1970 {December 6th} the Grass Roots performed a medley of three of their hit records on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'... The songs they performed were "Midnight Confessions" {#5 in 1968}, "Let's Live For Today" {#8 in 1967} and "Temptation Eyes" {#15 in 1971}... Bassist and lead singer "Rob" Grill passed away on July 11th, 2011 at the age of 67... R.I.P. Mr. Grill and Mr. Sullivan {1901 - 1974}...

fogologo100 I haven't been there since the mid-80's. Did you go to HS there or nearby? I loved Redding. It was a fun place to spend summers. There was a little amusement park down by the river. Do you know it? Is it still there?

Are you referring to the miniature golf place? Over by the old Monkey Wards and other stores? All gone now. And no I didn't go to school there. Out where Hilltop Drive is used to be all manzanita . Do you remember the two drive ins?
@Femalecommaman
@Femalecommaman 10 лет назад
fogologo100 It was a little amusement park that a man named Grandpa Wilsey built himself. It was taken over by the Y's men. I remember "Docs" on Hilltop Drive and the drive-ins. Not there anymore? It's been so long since I was at any of those places, I can't remember where the MWards was! (My Gma *loved* Wards so I know we went. Lol.) She had a house off Hwy 5 that my Gpa built for her out of adobe. When 5 came in they pulled Imminent Domain and gave her 3+ acres and a house out in Enterprise. That was (OMG) 52 years ago! Do you still live around there?
