I got shocked touching the trimmer head cap. I was about to pull out more string, Trimmer was still on and I felt a few tiny shocks then one bigger one. Could it be the same issue?
Sometimes you just have to reengineer things. Stihl obviously didn’t source the correct wire for that application or should have isolated them better from the drawing board. I had my first “short” surprise a while back while taching a chainsaw. Holding the tach in the same hand I had resting near the spark plug boot and all of a sudden I started getting little buzzes in that hand. The perfectly good boot had a couple of tiny cracks, just enough to nail me if I had a finger directly on a crack. I used some Threebond 1184 on it but in retrospect now that I’ve discovered liquid electrical insulation I would have used that. It was a thrilling moment! 😂👍🔧
I have an Echo weedeater and it's shocking me in that exact area around the throttle. Doesn't happen often, but it happens enough for me to want to put off trimming my yard a few extra days. But this video helped alot. Thanks for giving me an idea at least of what's going on.
