Chinedu, the cage floors are convenient for collecting their manure and keeping their environs clean, but is the cage floor difficult on their feet? Other small rodents, such as rabbits often find such floors hard on their feet and also in terms of being able to rest adequately. As you keep them for some time for breeding and maturation, this seems a concern. Same possible issue with so many animals per cage. Also, regarding the pregnant females who lose hair during their pregnancy and weaning period. It sounds likely that their pregnancy and little ones are taxing on their bodies -- as with human females . It sounds as if, for their continued health that it might do to supplement their diet - either with a small animal supplement or by varying the vegetation that you feed them. In the wild, they probably would eat differently when they are pregnant and have babies.
