this particular recording of this song, has healed my soul time and time again

My 80 year old dad was an old school engineer. The clean cut, no nonsense suit and tie guy. Had this on in my car. He said "I really like this." I remained quiet and he two minutes later he said it again. "John, who is this?" "It's the Grateful Dead" I said calmly. "I like it!" he said back. Guess he mellowed with age.

I’m nearly 50yrs old. I’ve been on almost 40 commercial flights. UI have never left the ground without this song playing in my headphones. I hit play when the jets fire up. And the silly wheels start rolling. O I can feel it now just typeing this. Up up and away. The way take off puts you back in your seat. Beautiful.

Been to a bunch of shows. Owned 300+ boots back in the day. And this is still my favorite version!!

My buddies and I discovered this song in high school, early 2000’s. One of my friends found this album in a stack of his dads old cds and we went to this camp site we used to party at. Once we found this jam I feel like we listened to it on repeat all night. To this day when I hear the opening riff my memory brings me back to that party at the camp site and the good times we had.

Imagine this...I was at my sister's cabin on Lake Winnipesakee in the spring,(off season, place to ourselves) crystal water, White Mountains view across the lake. We partied all night, slept late and the cool folks next door were outside all night and into the morning..around an outdoor fire... I woke up to this song playing on their stereo....I wanted that moment to last forever, the whole scene was so great. I have not remembered the title since....thanks for posting!

I was there that night and realizing in the moment that I was watching something really special.Loved it when I finally scored a bootleg of the entire second set , which is when Branford joined him. I also remember when Branford was on Johnny Carson relatively soon after the show. Johnny asked him how this unusual pairing occurred and what it was like . Branford had replied he was really impressed with the band and thankful of how they just sat back and let him shine. So, impressed was he by their playing he said afterwards he went out and bought all their albums in one shot.

was at the Nassau Coliseum that night. a most incredible night. this is the song i want played at my memorial service, it best describes what i believe, down to my very soul.

This Eyes is purely magical. It takes me to a certain place in my mind, hard to put into words.

Made these shows at the Greek... The band was extraordinarily tight and this version reflects it - it was perfect ... "high" doesn't quite cover it - it was totally surreal, the music, the atmosphere, the best of friends, the shrooms... everything. was. just. perfect.

No matter the time of year, this song is always nice to hear.

Thanks for posting. My first version of 'Eyes' I remember paying attention to. As such my favorite. Although I had friends who introduced me to the Dead I was at an African American College, Morgan State University, Baltimore USA when I discovered this and other Dead I would come to love. My white friend Bobby Merkley who was going to the school on minority scholarship (gotta love it) became a total dead head and since we hung out after English lit. class smoking and sharing about life I learned his music and he mine. Love this song. I guess it was all the Coltrane and sax I was listening to that inspired him to put me down with this song. I followed the dead on and off up to Gerry's last show. Still love the music. I am a stagehand now and did Ratdog in Washington DC February 2014. Yes I hung out on Shakedown Street but I couldn't party as..... well I was working. Ok maybe one balloon...

My cousin gave me this record in the early '90s, I love every second of it, is a fantastic experience to listen to it, sometimes when I am at the beach and the mood is right, this song plays on my head without a warning, what a great feeling, it brings back so many great memories, enough said!. Music to lift your spirit.

Back in the 90s my daily driver was a Mazda miata with Bose surround sound. Many long top down drives on twisty country roads with this tape in the deck and the system on full blast.

Sublime version. If you are an Eyes fan, the epitome for me is the magical Boston Garden 9/25/91 with Hornsby. Hands down the stand out of that show. They were inspired!!!

I missed this night, I saw them at Nassau Coliseum in NY on one of the three nights they played. I remember it bc I was on the floor and they were pure Magic. I miss their run at MSG in the Fall and saw the 2nd to last show before Bret Mydland overdosed at Foxboro, Mass. THAT was one of the all time strangest trips I've ever had. I miss them terribly, their music has been their through the good, bad and the ugly for me and healed my soul. I used to put this song on as well as Jack Straw when on night watch sailing across the Atlantic on a 62 monohull. Jamming the dead with my foulies on sailing in a squall hand steering 4-5m waves in the middle of the Ocean. Other worldly man, seeing pods of dolphins swimming with the boat at first light, my best memories are of listening to the dead in the middle of the ocean, shit crew? Boat sinking? Captain is an asshole? Fuckit man, I got my tunes, I'm good.

The first time I heard LLR I loved it but I never put a thought of a face I love to go with it until April 3, 2017. My elderly companion Mister a dark brown with greying hair toy poodle wandered from our home he and I share. Lost, deaf, blind weighing only 6lbs is alone, out there without me, and me alone without him. I thought of this song as I wandered amilisly looking for my loyal companion for 76 hours going in only to use the restroom and cry more. I still replace the fliers through the neighborhood hoping that some kind soul took him in and hasn't seen he is missed and loved. I lay in bed and I go to pull him near realizing he's not there and the rain comes rolling down my cheeks. I wish he were in the lines I had drawn, I'd gotten used to having him around. Mister, forever in my dream, love Mama.

A very good friend of mine past away a couple of years ago. This was probably his favorite song.... EVER. Every month or so I listen to it and remember the good times we spent listening to this, dancing, celebrating life. Good times, indeed!!

First dead song I ever heard, always will be my favorite

I was 15 years old and after seeing the boys play in Oakland Coliseum and Cal expo a few times this was the album my brothers and myself played over and over on the road and In between. This version really blew my whole universe open to what live music as Art and Entity really is and right there I was on the bus and Dead forever.
