I went to a Dead and Company show. Travelled from Brazil to attend two nights at Citi Field last week. My life, as expected, has forever changed. Deadhead in my deepest core!
Best song ever when you're really high. The kind of high where you are happy with where you are in life and you're nice and stoned listening to the grateful dead.
Spot on man. I had an out of body experience during Eyes in Oakland Coliseum 1992. Pure magic. They had this round projection screen hanging over center stage with slow motion video of lovely hippie fam dancing to the music and I can say in all honesty it was the most profoundly beautiful moment I've had in my life.
The Dead blended psychedelic rock jazz and folk so well that they just were such a legendary band throughout history. Jerry was a genius guitarist and such a poetic visionary of his time.
Try visiting a regional burn (similar to burning man, though often not in a desert) I think you'll find the culture and freedoms are alike in many ways.
Im an older dude now, but I grew up in the San Fran bay area during the '60s and moved to the mountains in '77, and my whole youth was immersed in a magical time. The counter culture, the beach, and this music! The stars were aligned in a special way back then and there. A concert ticket was $3.50., I pumped gas at 26 cents a gallon, and a jug of Dead Mountain Red was $1.50! HA! And the ladies OMG! .just lucky that's all.
WOW ...yes, but then , I think all the 70 s were great, and even into the 80s ..90s...I just think they really lost something special when Brent was no longer around...
Recently new dead head here. I have to say they all blow me away! Today was the first time I have ever heard this song. This song is amazing!!! I’ve Ben listening to it all night . I can only imagine what it was like seeing them live!
Row Jimmy, Loose Lucy, Here Comes Sunshine, They Love Each Other, Eyes of the World, China Doll & Wave That Flag (an early version of US Blues) all made their debuts on this fine evening... coincidentally it was also the debut of a new sound system, later to be dubbed "The Wall of Sound"... one of the very best shows you'll find...
Are you kidding, i been to there concerts back then. Electric Kool Aid was floating around, take a sip and pass it on, then in the show going on big fan's would blow smoke into the audience, you have to have been there to experience it.
Have been sober drug free for 24 yrs and it still has the same vibe WITHOUT the mind altering stuff:) imagine that you can just get great vibes from the music and life:) Did not HAVE TO change ME just what I allowed to alter my mind:) most valuable lesson so far in life, that and honesty with myself:) , although no misunderstanding I would trade my experiences with hallucinogens for anything, they helped prepare me for a lot of what life has handed me,left me with a more open mind in simple terms:) Peace takes Practice. My olman was a deadhead he turned me and I lost him to cancer I couldn't even listen to then for a Long time it's nice to listen to then now and get that good feeling my kids and grandkids listen to then they're timeless

The words of this song are words of my own, as the songs that we hear are songs of our own. Share this song with others, turn on them love lights, ✌🏼 Peace, love & pass it on.
Anytime I need a spiritual or emotional lift? I listen to this track. Never fails to turn that frown right side up and into a grin. That's why I LOVE THE GRATEFUL DEAD.
Eyes… my happy place- love that learning it on guitar was an almost endless wealth of knowledge on how an E major 7th (EM7) can be played… as well as many other marvelous lessons. Thank you for sharing.
The first time, I saw them as the Warlocks. My last time was at Shoreline, Jerry's last California concert. Alpha/Omega. It truly was a bizarre day. Thanks to Tiffany and Robert. Tri-Bolbus
Like the fleeting glimmer of sunlight on a passing dolphin, the beautiful scales and accouterments take me to another place, one that knows only beauty.
Wow, I have not heard this in many years, I gave the tape to someone else who loved it in the 90s. This was a truly special show, and BTW, this the very first Eyes ever.
Wherever Jerry is, he's bound to be feeling fine, that windblown grin just just oozes the triumphal "Damn we're still getting away with this!" Outlook. This mix is superb, Jerry sounds clear crisp & fully charged... his voice is mixed ideally right in the center & his delivery has clarity & Nuance, as appropriate. At the end Phil pulls Jerry back into the Eyes groove, then Jerry sticks it right back by taking HIS sweet time finishing his last round of solos. This track is a very fine iteration of this jewel. Too many versions are mixed in mud or the vocals leave Jerry sounding like he's grasping a whisper. Not here, Jerry is in fine form in voice & guitar. Gracias!
I've been into the Dead since 1970 I was very young. I knew it was my path. I am Tribe Jerry's the father. I still can't deal with the loss of him I cry. Best band ever I am still a devoted Head. Seen Dead and Co. It's all good I know my 👑 is smiling down the music never stops. ✌💓🌞🌹⚡💀 NFA ✌🌹💓
The dead helped me come back to my innerself and understated who I truelly am that I was born to be a musician and no one can take that away from me. To discover that I myself was the eyes of the world to help those in need with addiction and the suffering of pain that I once went through myself. Keep truckin ☯️
+hellhound551 That it was. I was there. Just like I was there for Roosevelt Stadium 74 (try that one and get back to me). Nassau 3/73's another very great one that I was present for :-) or that night in Springfield on 3/28 later that month as we went hyperdrive out of DS into Eyes. But this one, the first one, is stunningly BEAUTIFUL. It floats like a monarch along a dune line in the October sun, nectaring on goldenrod. Then flitting to another. Onto Michoacan. All in due time. Sometimes the most beautiful things in this life are the simple things. The subtle, the delicate.
Amazing version, most awesome though lovin all its incarnations, evolutions & alterations, alliteration Sometimes the songs that we hear are the songs of our own
smooth vibrations fill my mind, as I sink into a soft cool world of grey I look around for a lifted soul to free me. Jerry thats always been you, forever will I miss you. I play your music for my kids and they love it. I am going to wear one of your neck ties when I get hitched one day, love you brother.
I stumbled upon a most wonderful outdoor show between Carmel and Big Sur and when I got there they were playing so soothing as this to where I just melted right into it.Only Jerry and the guys can do such healin jamming .I thank the Dead for all those get to gethers they magicaly brought us ;Peace Love and Rock on my brothers and sisters
Lyrics: Right outside this lazy summer home You ain't got time to call your soul a critic no Right outside the lazy gate of winter's summer home Wondering where the nut-thatch winters Wings a mile long just carried the bird away Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world The heart has it's beaches, it's homeland and thoughts of it's own Wake now, discover that you are the song that the morning brings But the heart has it's seasons, it's evenings and songs of it's own There comes a redeemer, and he slowly too fades away And there follows his wagon behind him that's loaded with clay And the seeds that were silent all burst into bloom, and decay And night comes so quiet, it's close on the heels of the day Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world The heart has it's beaches, it's homeland and thoughts of it's own Wake now, discover that you are the song that the morning brings But the heart has it's seasons, it's evenings and songs of it's own Sometimes we live no particular way but our own And sometimes we visit your country and live in your home Sometimes we ride on your horses, sometimes we walk alone Sometimes the songs that we hear are just songs of our own Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world The heart has it's beaches, it's homeland and thoughts of it's own Wake now, discover that you are the song that the morning brings But the heart has it's seasons, it's evenings and songs of it's own
