synopsis by Ned Lagin - "Steve's Super 8mm movies cover the 1974 Grateful Dead European tour. London's city life of the times and the Alexandra Palace set up of the Wall of Sound (2:02), Munich and the Olympic Halle (4:26), band (5:37, me at 6:01 reading the Sunday Times) and family members getting on the bus and the bus ride from Munich through Luxembourg to Zurich, hanging out on the street in Geneva with Jerry, Parish, Hunter, Keith, Donna, baby Zion, Bob Matthews, and others, and then Phil, Steve, Dan Healy, and me on our drive through the high Alps and villages of Switzerland (7:25), into rural France (with castles) and on to Dijon (14:58) ending in Paris."

My first live rock concert ever was GD in 74. I was so young and naive that I could not even notice that their wall of sound was anything out of the ordinary!

I believe that’s the first time I’ve heard the J-Man playing slide on Scarlet Begonias. Wonder if he did that more than once.

Heard the wall of sound at least 3 times and some of it at Watkins Glen Summer jam. It is still the best live audio system that I have ever heard.

While the Dead resided at the Munich Hilton, my friends and me slept inside a little playground fort in the Olympic park next to the Olympiahalle.
