Happy Birthday to me... Sept 21st 1993, my 22nd birthday, a kid from Salt Lake City, hanging out in the Big City for his first ever Madison Square Garden shows. When I sent my mail order into GDTS, I included a photocopy of my driver's licence, to show them that 9/21 is indeed my birthday. I was hopeful that they would try and send me something (NYC shows in the 1990's were always at an insanely high demand, only about 20% of orders got filled due to sheer volume of people trying for them) so imagine my shock when I got my tickets in the mail, and saw that the tickets for my birthday show were SECOND ROW FLOOR, DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF GARCIA. A night I will cherish forever... Thank You for uploading this, and allowing me to relive some amazing memories!!! Matthew

I had more or less stopped going to shows by this point, but I can see the boys still had some stellar nights left in them. Great recording - the bass sounds particularly great on this one.
Philly 2nd night 2nd set Scarlet>Fire>Playin'>Dark Star>Terrapin! This MSG run was a good time. They used to let you walk down from the 300's through the taper section to the floor. I got down to 3rd row aud. left for this show.
93 was fire. Vince was finally in the groove and Jerry was on top of his game. I've only been the show since 1991 but these were my best during that time.
I worked at Albany Medical Center till 4:00 that day drove home to Great Barrington Mass. Picked up two friends, made it to the Garden by 745 or so... missed the first couple songs.... Miracled someone outside on my way in... turned out to be my last show.
One of the better recordings I have found on RU-vid! The definition on the bass is stellar! The video sucks, but, hey, who really cares when the audio is so good?!?!
i think we all saw the eminent demise. that's why everyone is just standing and staring. we knew, sadly. even though there were some joyous moments. fleeting.
got miracled first night...got in just in time for a overdue Shakedown....was so wigged out didnt realize my miracle was a loge ticket,,,, i jumped railing down to floor for whole show.....drove from Kent State Univ
Love this show and always will forever but if anyone out there sees this comment my mother has little time left with a brain tumor and I have to repay her for taking me and 5 friends to our first show in 93 when I was 13. Please help a mother out and Jerry will thank you in heaven
Dane Massie yes I think you should not be asking for money.its kinda has really nothing to do with you seeing the Dead show and why would you make your mother paid for your tickets anyway
crazy fingers indeed.. bertha.. oh the best "same thing" i have ever heard.. bob and vince are one on same thing they are the same thing haha and garcias dirty tone garcia was a lot of things but he was a dirty boy first!!
Hard to listen to most 90’s shows. So sloppy. Sad. One wonders if Brent didn’t OD if the 90’s would have been better, but looking back the sound of these shows is so dull and tired compared to past decades. At this time the Dead was just on it for the money. 😞😞😞😞😞
you can tell jerry was clean during this run of shows....pretty much the last clean year from smack93....then the dragon returned with vengeance till the newly minted Mrs.evilbitch Garcia tried to get him to go cold turkey and killed him in the process, his heart could not take it, even in 93 he was on methadone, his opioid receptor damage was to great for any quick fixes ,so sad and he could be still playing but for the meddling fools, that and smack should be handed out by drs via prescription ,drug war killed Jerry
I agree it's sad, but wasn't just the drugs, bro. The diabetes, smoking, and heart damage from the years of poor eating were big factors. But, I agree; he went full bore when he should've slowly cut down on some things
