Phenomenal set of music here!! So glad to see 1981 getting some love! Just about all the good Jam songs from the 80's.. Help>Slip>Franks, Scarlet>Fire, China>Rider, Estimated>UJB, Estimated>He's Gone, Sailor>Saint, Terrapin, Playin>Crazy Fingers. Some rare tunes: Electric Deep Elem, St. Stephen. Some "new" songs, Throwing Stones, Touch, Day Job, Esau, Bucket. Some covers: Satisfaction, Revolution, along with their other 'standard' covers. AWESOME 80's release. Pumped for this!!
I'm not good at remembering what song was played at what venue, year... like so many are- but I do remember the longed for St. Stephen MSG 1982 and the long wrap around skirt I wore on that fall night😊
It was a busy day going on for Dave, kayakers rowing by, some noisy geese coming up mid way, truck going by, balancing on one foot, and the clouds going by casting their shadows, just like MSG and NYC, very busy!! Thanks Dave for the 1980's love!!
Dave, I appreciate your candor that you love Day Job. It often gets a bad rap but I’ve always liked it too. I saw them play it at Veneta 8-28-82. Looking forward to this box set. I enjoyed video when the band was inducted into MSG Hall of Fame. They loved it there. Thanks for your hard work. Hope your foot heals quickly.
This is gonna be my first box set, I was originally hoping Dave’s Picks 43 would be another 80s show like the summer release was last year, but this definitely makes up for it!
I checked this page while at work to see if the Dave's Pick 43 announcement came out and got this in addition, which amused me because I work a few blocks south of MSG. Kismet!
It is the cassette. It’s the exact same copy we all had on cassette. There’s only one copy out there. This hasn’t been remastered. It’s - they are selling us our tapes now. Kinda fucked up considering the point of commercial releases is to offer us superb quality we can’t get otherwise but - money
@@haroldcushner583 Genius read up on the Plangent Process. It makes a huge difference. It's not the exact same copy you've had all this time. It still won't beat the AUDS because cassette masters have their limitations but it's as close as you can get.
He’s basically selling our tape quality back to us. It wasn’t mastered to be formatted for vinyl. There is one single copy of this show we all had in tape and then ti digital. But the god news is now they can’t make excuses for not releasing certain shows because of the mastering. But isn’t that the point? To sell us a pristine sounding Copy? They are selling us what we had on tape. Exact same copy
@@haroldcushner583 To say what they do to these releases here does nothing to the sonics is just plain silly. You may change your tune once you hear what Plangent Processing and Jeffery Normand can do to a raw 2ch feed type recording like these.
Am I The only one to Notice That " Soundboard Masters" on Cassette Do NOT sound as " Dynamic " as Reel to Reel Masters ?? even after Plangent Remastering the " Cassette" Masters are Inferior...... Still Buying this Box of Course....
Fantastic! and I love vinyl more than any other format, but come on ya'll, do you really think it's worth their while to press these things for vinyl to sell at probably $800 or so? they'd be stuck with a lot of them. “They aren’t the best at what they do, they are the only ones that do what they do”
I still have multiple CD players but one turntable, a barely working "boom box", and no music friendly computer especially no slot for a disc. CDs were murdered prematurely without an acceptable replacement. Streaming works fine if you are in a city and the building wasn't made to crumble with high winds.
