It is a revelation to hear the words "We have a choice" in matters of life. My question is, how many of us realizes that? Particularly in our early years when we are formulating ideas about, and navigating our way through it. Do we all know we have choices, or are we trying desperately to create an identity in this world through either conformism or resistance against it, or something in between.? This is in a way a thing that divides us because I don't think we all know "we have choice" at the same time, and unfortunately for some, as we get older sometimes it's too late to change that..Though I believe we can always change. Wonderful interview with an extraordinary artist and teacher...
What a wonderful podcast!! Gratitude has made all the difference in my life, as well. It’s free, transformative and happiness-producing. Carolyn shows that your background doesn’t preclude gratitude, but gratitude determines the quality our present and our hope for our future. You don’t even have to begin as an optimist - that’s right, Simon! Gratitude practice re-wires our brain. I’m so grateful Simon is doing this podcast.
It's so true when we focus on gratitude and appreciation, we are naturally more optimistic in life. Carolyn Adams is like you say a light that shines bright and so are you.
“One of the ways to really inhibit another person’s life, without putting them behind bars, is to convince them that they have nothing to offer.” This has been used to devastating effect, really, because to some degree, we allow it. I’m making it my mission to share as much value as I can while helping others find and share their personal, unique, value. Thank you for sharing this inspiring talk🙏
You always seem so optimistic. How do you manage that? I was raised by pessimistic parents so I am naturally pessimistic. I want to be more optimistic like you, it is natural or can it be learned?
It can totally be learned!!! Gratitude is a great start. If we practice gratitude daily or even weekly, it requires the brain. I use several related practices gratitude, joy, oneness (connection) and service...as well as others... and they help me see the world more positively and be resilient. Looking for those moments where someone has done something for you that you did nothing to earn and that cost them something - that will begin to add up evidence that there is benevolence in the world. When we believe that there is benevolence in the world - well, isn’t that optimism? 💖
