The king of 80s films, breakfast club is my favorite

John Hughes was an exceptional screen writer/director. He was responsible for so many iconic 80's movies featuring members of the Brat Pack. "The Breakfast Club," "Sixteen Candles," and "Pretty in Pink" are classics. May he Rest in Peace.

John Hughes imagination and talent were such a wonderful gift to us all. Sorry we lost him so young.

On a cold day ten years ago my then 18 year old daughter and I watched Breakfast Club. After it ended I noted that I watched it in the theatre when it came out. She said "Wow that's amazing because it's still relevant." Timeless Classic along with Ferris

I named my daughter Claire after Molly Ringwald’s character in The Breakfast Club. ♥️

John Hughes was a genius! So many great comedy films from the 80's! He is one of my favorite Directors.

So much to say about John Hughes. I'm in the process of re-watching every movie he directed (I still have to see Curly Sue and She's Having a Baby again) and he just got it. He just somehow perfectly captured what being a teenager is. I first saw The Breakfast Club just before I went to college, and I re-watched it a few months ago. It still hit me the same way it did back then. Lake Forest, where he lived and is buried, isn't too far from where I grew up and currently live. I always wanted to meet him, but sadly that never came to be. But I had the honor and privilege of meeting his son, James, at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, where they played along with Home Alone. His son looks EXACTLY like his father - it's really eerie. He and his wife, Nancy, were both very philanthropic. Lake Forest needed to reinforce one of its beaches, and she donated a large sum of money to get the project going. It was completed around the time she passed away, and they ended up naming it Hughes Gateway in her honor. The theater at the local community center is also named after both John and Nancy Hughes.

After watching Christmas vacation again this year I remarked to my husband that we need more writers like John Hughes. He made such great movies.

Thank you Jordan for doing this one. I am a huge John Hughes fan and was heartbroken when he passed away. Maybe one day I too will be able to pay my respects to this man who wrote alot of my favorite movies as well. Job well done!! 😊

I live near Milwaukee and turned 18 in 1981. Living that close to Chicago and having grown up with his movies makes me want to tour all the locations in which his movies were made. I've seen one or two, but there are countless more I haven't visited. Your videos inspire me to do so. Sadly, I noticed John Hughes' wife passed away shortly after he did and was also very young. I've outlived both he and his wife, and having just turned 60, that is somewhat sobering. I think it's time to stop and take a look around a while.

Tons of great movies but nothing can top "Planes, Trains" and "The Breakfast Club"

His home at the time of his death is only a few blocks away on E Westminster. I bicycle by these locations during the summer months, along with many of his filming locations along the North Shore. Great memories :)

Thank you for making this and good work. I love John Hughes and love his films. Amazing how famous he is considering he himself was rarely out there in the public. Never saw him at all the last ten years of his life. I was always hoping that he would write his autobiography and considering he was a writer I'm always surprised he didn't. He's a fascinating guy and my hope is his sons will write his biography. I had no idea his wife passed away so soon after he did. I remember seeing her at the Oscars when they did their tribute to him.

Not kidding... Indeed one of the BEST !! I own a copy of all of these films on DVD. Still watch them and Enjoy them. He died much too young... Well done, Jordan.

John Hughes was in a class all by himself because he wrote, directed, or produced some of the best movies of the 80s and 90s. My favourites JH movies include The Breakfast Club, Uncle Buck, and the first two Home Alone films.

He is a true icon, I grew up in the Chicago area and all his movies I loved, but especially The Breakfast Club. I had just been out of high school for like two years when it came out, it so reminded me so much of my high school years. i drove out to his gravesite few years ago, may he rip.

Merry Christmas, Jordan. The world is not the same without John Hughes. A master of the 80's movie. I've seen them all! I thought it was cool a normal, Midwestern guy made it big! His movies all had that Midwestern flair, but could be anywhere USA. A very fine balancing act. His movies had to appeal to everyone to succeed, and they did. The talent he made good use of is phenomenal! On a more somber note. My little Chihauhua, Loki, went missing Christmas Day. I am sick. He went everywhere with me, like Jah does with you. He's my world at times, even though I have grown children I adore. I have contacted police, all local vets, and FB. I just sit here in agony, wondering. We've covered miles looking. Thanks for trying to cheer me up with your videos! ❤😊❤

John Hughes has made some great movies. He was also a music fan. He sometimes would use deep tracks that were not singles. These songs then became popular. Wish You Were Here by Thompson Twins on the Pretty In Pink soundtrack is an example. Enjoyed this video. 😊

Merry (one day late) Christmas and Happy New Year, Jordan. I had no idea that John Hughes had been dead so long or died so young. I have never seen a John Hughes film, being about 20 years older than the target audience and not eager to relive high school. I've known many people who watched his films as teenagers and they've talked about how much they meant to them. This is a beautiful cemetery and you gave a touching tribute to Mr. Hughes.

I wish John Hughes estate would release some of the treasures he never released you always hear about like the super long uncut version of the breakfast club...

As a kid, I've seen Pretty in Pink, Uncle Buck, Home Alone 1&2 in theaters. To this day, as a tradition, I watch Home Alone for Christmas every year. Thanks again Jordan for this tribute.

John Candy was only paid $414 for his role in Home Alone and he was always bitter about it. He held a grunge against Chris Columbus until the bitter end. That story just came out about a week ago. Pretty crazy

You did a very good job with the story. I went to Glenbrook South high school three years younger than John. I can relate to the movies he made around this area I drive by a lot of the film locations in the summer when I joyride around on my motorcycle

Hughes is my Maiden Name and my dad was John Hughes … I use to tease my daddy where he was stashing all the money from his movies! Lol I watched all his movies and loved them all! And … then there was Howard Hughes … I would call him Uncle Howie! Lol Lots of John Hughes in my family … John Henry Hughes, Jr. was my dad! He passed at the age of 73 and he married his teenage love … my Mother … Louise (her Mom called her Lou) … and she was 89 when she past and both buried in Dexter, MO! I think John Hughes attributed to a lot of Gen X's adolescence. I believe that I have seen about 90% of them fully. Both of my kids really enjoy them now. John and his wife both died young. What a talent.

The old bulls practice facility is near there. They still have the old banners inside and you can see it. Amazing because of the history inside that gym. Was shown numerous times in "the last dance" documentary.

Keep up the great work Jordan! John H was definitely one of the defining writers/directors of the 80’s. If you ask anyone that grew up in that decade (age 10-17) his movies will be ingrained into their memories.
