Lisa Milton, Manager of Natural Resources at Newfields (the venue formerly known as Indianapolis Museum of Art), tells the story of gravel pits of the 1960s and 1970s that were left to naturalize for decades and colonized with largely invasive and undesired plants. Intensive land management practices since then have been well documented, enabling the historical study of land use, the impact of land management, and the floristic quality of the park. Presented to INPS Central Chapter in March 2023.
