I mostly clean headstones that are from the 1600s to 1800s. They don't require hard scrubbing, they require gentle attention and patience. ALL of my work is as a volunteer so I don't know much about the business aspect of it. Before you venture out, learn all you can about stone care. Thanks for watching and good luck
You got the gunk off the very bottom. Most don't try to clean the bottom as well as the top but you do. I admire that. Do you know if the same brownstone was used for apartments stairs in NY as this stone for gravestone makers in Connecticutt? I hope one day to drive to Connecticut and see the brown stone markers.
Most brownstone stairs in NYC came from the same place as the cemetery headstones. Portland brownstone quarry in Connecticut. Some came from New Jersey but the transport down the Connecticut River made it easy to get brownstone everywhere.
@Nobody Should Be Forgotten so interesting. Going to research that tonight. It's so beautiful when it's clean. I don't even mind the dark edges. Gives it character. I cleaned a marble stone after work and it made me feel so good from the BS day. Anyway, take care, be safe, happy cleaning. God Bless. Thank you for your patriotism and care for those who have passed on.
