It's kind of a shame that you didn't watch this with CC on. They were written to match the vibe of the song and it actually translates the Japanese lines and it has rhymes and flow even in those translations. It's great.
From the vtuber wiki: BOOGEY VOXX is a Japanese VTuber duo consisting of Ci the Jiangshi and Fra the Monster who dub themselves a virtual undead unit. They are a hip-hop group with Ci mostly handling the melody and Fra handling the rap parts of their songs.
@@MunckFu Close its a Chinese hopping vampire. The Chinese character for "jiang" (殭/僵) in "jiangshi" literally means "hard" or "stiff". It is believed that the jiangshi are so stiff that they cannot bend their limbs or body, so they have to move around by hopping while keeping their arms stretched out for mobility.
Great reaction. if you do want to dive deeper into Calli’s work (which I definitely recommend), she might not always be a good fit for international Wednesday though. This one worked out because of Boogey Voxx and a lot of her songs do have some Japanese in them, but she is a predominantly English language artist (and American, though she currently lives in Japan) and a good portion of her songs have minimal to no Japanese. They’re all great though. Oh and, the idea you mentioned near the start of a younger talent cycling in to take over as a vtuber, sounds promising in theory, but the fans of vtubers more often are drawn to the individual persona of the vtuber than the character model and such, and being a vtuber isn’t really the same as acting as a character. It was notably attempted a couple years ago to swap out the person behind a big vtuber, Kizuna Ai (who is often regarded as the vtuber to popularize the vtuber trend in the first place), and the fans largely rejected it, prompting the company behind her to stick with the original talent and, if I recall correctly, relegate the would be replacement to a side character.

@@Mattables Something to consider is that, because you're not visibly on screen, the stigma associated with the visual appearance of age is removed. Age is much less of a factor if you're vTubing.

Fra and Ci are Boogey Voxx. Fra has some seriously good energetic flow that's so invigorating. Ci has some serious power, attitude, range and rhythm with a dark edge like you'd hear in Gothic Symphonic Metal.
If you want more of a change up with Calli I'd suggest Live again, Red and Bully, would also recommend if you want a more somber tone definitely recommend Cursed Nights or End of a Life

The idea of changing the vtuber voice actress might sound good to you but it had been done before and they went downhill. Gamebu changed all the original voice actors and it started going downhill. Kizuna Ai added more voice actors and people hated that. Most of the vtuber models die with the departure of the original voice actors, this is to keep the memories of them even though it just stop there. There might be some that left the company and "reincarnate" into other vtubers elsewhere.
It's . She took the name from the Greek muse of epic poetry. It's also an actual word in English as the name of an instrument often associated with circus performances. I'm always a bit nonplussed that most people seem to have trouble pronouncing it, despite this being the only case in HoloLive of a talent with an English word as part of their name.
@@jupiter926 Because it comes from Greek, it isn't pronounced as you'd expect for a Romantic language like Spanish or English. But it still surprises me because Calliope (the Muse) is not an obscure character, and is named in a lot of Greek literature that's still read today including Homer's Iliad and the Odyssey. Anyway, I didn't mean to call you out specifically. I was pointing out that a lot of people mispronounce the name... even when it's in the lyrics of a couple of her songs. 😆
This genre is a bit more niche. I believe the old genre you're looking for is Swing. This song is basically ElectroSwing fused with Japanese Rap. The niche has been going on for a while now but it's usually flying under the radar. Personally, I friggin love it. It's so fun to listen to. It's a genius of genre fusion. Also, it makes sense that this feels like it's part of something. And I think their VTuber personas are contributing to it. The song is written with their respective lore in mind. A reaper and two zombies. So in a way, it *is* part of something bigger. Other songs I can recommend that are like this, if you're really interested, are "Reflection" by DYES IWASAKI and "Princess" by TOPHAMHAT-KYO. Both songs involving FAKE TYPE. Similar energy and beat. They're hella fun to listen to.
After releasing her first single, Calli hosted a contest/community activity of covers of her song, and reviewed the top ones with her genmate Takanashi Kiara, and boogey boxx participated and got featured in the livestream. I'm not sure if Calli knew them beforehand (probably), after that Boogey and Calli did a double collab, with a diferent collab song released on both their channels featuring the other
