India's weapon systems are supported from France, Russia, Israel, US alike. Yes, India operates more of Russian origin but more and more of the weapon system choices are being taken in from the US (Apache, Jet engines, Predator drone), Israel (Barak, Spice missiles, Drones etc) and France (Rafale). Indian foreign policy allows it to leverage multiple relationships irrespective of their positioning.

One of the tough tasks for Modi, besides buying more Russian weapons and seeking permission to manufacture them in India to promote his "Make in India" initiative, is to convince Russia to accept the Indian rupee as payment. This is highly challenging because Russia already holds a significant amount of Indian rupees due to payments for oil imports, making the currency less appealing.

These ships were ordered because all the Indian shipyards were having their order books full. These are also going to be last warships of the Indian navy built outside India. India got a cheap deal as these warships uses Ukrainian engines and russians didn't wanted to induct these ships.

We have the world's most efficient space program, the only one to reach Mars in the first try. We have our own indeginous built aircraft carriers, frigates, ssbn nuclear submarines, destroyers, more than 7 active ballistic missile programs, best cruise missile in the world. We have built our own fighter jets, Sam missiles, radars, etc etc.. We have the largest smart phone manufacturing plant(not china), and we are the second largest phone manufacturers. We have the largest digital payment system in the world, greater than us and china. We are the largest Pharma manufacturers in the world and also the largest exporter. We may not be as strong as china and usa, but we are definitely not slaking off.
