On a more serious note, On behalf of Indonesia i want to apologize for our part in this crisis. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to prioritize normalizing our own cooking oil price problems that is caused by... you guessed it, the exporters who wanted easy money by overselling the oil thanks to the rising international price that in turn was caused by the war. @@aswingsharif6729 If you had actually watched the video then you will understand how the cessation of sunflower oil forced people to go with palm oil, and thus creating the price hike which is the reason why those businessmen smelled blood in the water. Indeed the Indonesian government should put a more robust regulation to curb down the more opportunist businessmen like in this instance. But you'd be dead wrong if you think the war has nothing to do with this debacle.

I live with my 80 year old father and he stopped eating most foods with oils and partially hydrogenated oils at 35 and let me tell you his health and vitality are like a spring chicken. My mother bless her heart did not change with him at 35 and she went the opposite way. Sadly she became like you see all who live in the west become when eating the things we are normally sold to think is ok for us. The people selling us our food are criminal in their actions of taking garbage and adding flavoring and pretty colors until it becomes FDA approved. I chose to follow dad in this, at 44 I’ve already surpassed all the people around me in health and vitality, not bragging it kinda makes me sad. Like dad I’ll have to watch everyone around me die young so… maybe it’s not so fun to be healthy?

@@franfinesim yep I agree If you have to eat oils that animal fats or lard are the better choice but… if you can avoid over saturation with any oil on the inside of the body is better. Swine though must be careful with because they have a parasite in them that eats our brain called Tania solium or however that’s spelled sorry, it’s no joke. I believe many people who seem like zombies today have this infecting them. It’s the real reason why the abrahamic religions avoid swine. The ancients of those peoples knew that those were little demons that would infect us. People don’t remember that our ancestors used oils externally more than internally. Oils can protect our outsides from things that try and get in us too. Like the real Rastafarians actually don’t smoke cannabis but rather used it’s oils to coat their hair to prevent lice and the like from living in their hair. Anointed with oil, our ancestors feet were more protected from the baddies that would attack them as they walked and such. I wish our schools taught these things instead of just teaching us to put everything in our mouths ya know. There are soooo many good things we miss out on.

The best solution for any oil shortage or it's high prices is to cut oil use. Oil use can be easily reduced 30% to 50% in home cooking. Consuming less oil is also good for your health. Start cooking without oil 2 days every week & then reduce amount for the other 5 days. Your family's health will be far better.

Karena semenjak perang ukraina - rusia. Ga ada lagi minyak sunflower ukraina buat ekspor. Jadi demand buat minyak sawit untuk dapur meledak. Nah stok minyak kita yg seharusnya untuk pasar domestik malah di simpan oleh pihak cukong untuk di jual ekspor supaya untung mereka gede. Makanya harga minyak kita sempet melambung tinggi. Padahal dari total produksi sawit untuk minyak goreng itu 80% untuk ekspor loh sedangkan domestik 20% doang, tetapi yah karena demand pasar internasional tinggi, akhirnya masyarakat kita malah jadi korban. Kalau Rakus mah, berapa aja pasti kurang. Kampret emang cukong2 minyak sawit ini.

That is why we always use Sesame Oil, Ground nut oil and Coconut oil made from traditional wood pressed method. There might be demand n price increase. But local market continue to grow and stable.

Sorry but in Indonesia shortage of palm oil has been around like since two months ago, now supply is okay, but price is still high. Domestic demand is predicted to rise as we are having Eid next week. Also, corruption is suspected to some high ranking trade official and private business owner, and it is under investigation. I hope WION also brings this issue up.

As an American, I watch/read the international business/economic news to get a measure of what is to come for us. I knew about the 2020 pandemic shutdowns almost 2 weeks before our American national and local news reported on it. I went ahead an purchased a varied supply of cooking oil that I would have normally bought later in the year just to curb the price gouging that will eventually hit us 2-4 weeks from now. Shortages on palm oil will affect alternative oil prices as well as processed food prices. In the US, we've already had food prices spike so this will just be another reason/excuse for food corporation to hike prices and then not lower them when the shortages are over. I hope the whole world gets back to some sort of stability soon.

@@fwefhwe4232 I am a Cajun/Texan so I have nearly 20 lbs of rice and 5lbs pinto beans at any given time in my pantry. I also easily grow green onions, potatoes (approx 30 lbs a year), peppers and tomatoes every summer with only a few beds as a hobby in my small back yard. But I don't think food hoarding is really the path to go. It is more logical to be able to supplement your pantry to ease the food bill. Also all the food shortages were on low quality convenience foods here. Cereal, bread, and pasta were gone, but stove top corn grits and cream of wheat were still very much available. I made polenta and a pretty good beef stew with a savory cream of wheat polenta base during covid based off of a medieval recipe.

The northern Nigeria used to export groundnuts and produce groundnut oil also. I hope they are tuning in on what is going on in the world food market.

Malaysia depends heavily on labour from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand and other countries. Due to covid, there is a stop on labour import. Malaysians, since the last 20-30years, have shunned working in plantations.

The shortage is due to our CPO being divided and allocated to the national biofuel project. In South Africa, 2 months ago, a brand of sunflower oil, costs R50 to R60 We are a producer of Sunflower oil, Canola etc. With the draughts, then plagues of Locusts and floods, and rain in our Soya bean are, this become a huge issue. Yesterday, it costs between 90 and 120 for the same 2 liter bottle of oil. I'm stocking up currently. Then we have labor issues each time at harvesting time, like we have in Cape Town right now

I always use ghee mostly to cook sweets and peanut oil to hot and spicy items . The food tastes better than any other oil. Sesame oil is another oil which strengthen your bones and muscles.

Palm oil is not only used for food. It also used as a base ingredient for various chemical product (soap, tooth paste, shampoo, industrial grade lubricant) and biodiesel. scarcity in palm oil will also influence the price of many chemical based products.

It's time nations went back to their indigenous organic foods and oils which were healthy for generations, some of these health issues we face today are from eating these imported too refined foods with harmful preservatives. I believe Africa survived without that oil for centuries , and can survive this situation and the same goes for India. Chinese use very little oil in their foods and I think that's why they are healthy. We'll go back to boiling and steaming food 🙏🙏
