North Korea is upset with Pakistan. On March 7, the Pakistani police raided the North Korean Embassy. It was looking for a huge stash of illegal liquor but did not find any. Pyongyang now wants Pak to punish the cops. Palki Sharma gets you a report.

It's not about religion I don't think it's banned for those diplomats to drink. Instead, it's banned to sell them or smuggle them. Diplomats get enough quota for personal use. Law is law. If not alcohol they will find other things to smuggle and make money.

It depends. While embassies are considered sovereign territory of another country, it is based on the assumption and understanding that that property cannot be used for illegal activities.

@@pankajchand6761 Even if there is illegal activities, you can not go in there. because you don't have right to decide whether that is legal or illegal. All you can do is declare that the diplomats are no longer welcomed in your country and ask them to leave the country within set date, and if he/she remains in your country after that set date, they will no longer have diplomatic immunity. and, if she/he remains in the embassy ground even after the set date, you can not go in there to arrest him/her. all you can do is wait outside, until he/she comes out, then arrest him/her.

@@bubusam13 They have been selling these Alcohol in the past. The story is linked to events occurred a couple of years ago and Pakistan has warned the embassy officials a few times in the past. The police would not take risk of entering the embassy without getting approval from political masters. But North Koreans are also smart and they might have hidden it somewhere. But it is a known fact that their embassy official sells the liquor to get earnings and not only in Pakistan but everywhere. It is due the fact that North Korea do not have money due to sanctions so they sell the liquors.

An embassy is inviolable. If police wants to apprehend persons involved in alcohol trafficking, they must do so outside of the embassy. Otherwise, Pakistani embassies around the world can also be breached by local authorities.

The staff may still have diplomatic immunity and local cops should not be doing anything except refer such cases to Pakistans 'Foreign Ministry' and diplomatic corps. This deserves condemnation from around the world . And if needed some extra scrutiny on the petty transgressions committed by Pak Diplomats elsewhere.

@@trueloveisneverend4110 my dad died from drinking, and every weekend I came pretty close to dying when he was driving to and from his place after picking us up for the court scheduled weekend visits at dad's. The 2nd last time I saw him was at his place and he was displaying pursed lips and gritting teeth as he stared at me from across the living room.. The booze cooked his processor after years of sluggin 40's of rum. The next time I saw him, he was in the hospital after he blacked out and broke his neck, and a hospital viral infection killed him before 7am the following sad day. My older brother is a bone breakingly violent afterlife professing wannabe chuck norris right winger type of authoritarian control freak who took over our sadly missed very caring nonviolent atheist parents city home after they sadly passed away too. I have a painful Parkinsons MS themed challenge and living rurally alone, typing this with one hand, while the other hand tries to limit the shaking of my head, for 30 years now.

First of all if it’s in the North Korean embassy it’s not a part of Pakistan… While Pakistan may impose laws on Pakistani territory, an embassy is the sovereign territory of that nation

I doubt they knew if it was an embassy anyway. North Korea's embassy till recently was in the middle of residential houses in New Delhi. They've shifted now.... but Google Maps can't tell where....

That's illegal to enter foreign country's embassy for whatever reason, international law states that the premises and grounds of an emabassy is an integral part of their country territory, there's no Pakistani law in any foreign embassy. Pakistan broke the international law and practically declared war on NK.
