Drilling lasted from 1970-198. Drilling technology has advanced since 1970, I am eager to see how the Chinese will get through the difficulties the Soviet encountered.

All right, according to Google, the deepest hole was 40,230 feet but mill claims that he used fishing wire with a 3 pound weight 500 yard spools and he went down 82,000 feet in this hole and did not touch bottom but it wasn’t drilled. It’s just a naturally formed hole that goes into the inner earth.

in holland we have gas reserves but we cant drill as there are earthquakes and they say it is because of the drilling.... China should watch out.... but though I think 1 trillion dollar of gas in the ground is a shame to drop it in holland...

This commentary uses 1/3 of time to talk about the risk of encountering extreme live with the drill. I interpret it as this commentary's position of objection to this project. What confuses me is that, many other celebrated explorations bear similar risk, such as drilling ice cores from the poles, diving deep down to explore Mariana Trend and its lifes, studying extreme lifes around underwater hydrothermal vents, etc, etc. Why don't this video name and shame those as well? Just feel weird the difference in treatment.

That is exactly what doesn't make sense to me. Trying something unprecedented is worth criticized! Also, those other celebrating explorations were unprecedented at their times as well. No one ever criticized those negatively! On the contrary, they were tried repeatedly until success. Someone has to be the first for everything. Besides, the drill is for one hole at one location. It is not like they can drill unprecedently deep holes everywhere on earth.
