Whilst many climate activists are fighting deforestation, China is going the extra mile to stop it's deserts from spreading by planting an insane amount of tree's, building massive forests to combat the problem. Today we look at the insane engineering behind this China's insane forestation mega project.

@@skizmo1905 nope, this is a party prestige project, running away with any significant amount of funds gets you executed. The few people in the comment section should really buy a mirror and think about how qualified you are to make strange comments without knowing the full picture. China plants more trees each year than the rest of the world combined and you can check this straight from Google Academics, and the only reason you don't know about it is because a lot of people don't want you to know, there are countless technologies and experiences about tree planting comes from it that can be extended to other Asia and Africa countries. While someone's hometown will only have a lot of "Greta" in private jets to attend the UN meeting, it is difficult for Chinese people to listen to some country with full house air conditioning and private jets and also not even be able to controlling forest fires to teach others how to "environmental protection"and "carbon emission" .Just like Taylor Swift wouldn't let me teach her how to sing.❤

Problem is you’re talking about low biodiversity trees vs no trees. I have to assume they’re only able to plant desert-resistant trees anyway, and the proper biodiverse forests wouldn’t survive in these initially arid environments. Why not solve the problem first before introducing more biodiversity?
@GriseldaBlanco-kt2to
@GriseldaBlanco-kt2to 3 месяца назад
@@jaytang4954 Exactly, they've already made huge progress. In the beginning I can understand they just want to wind block and lock up the sand with dropped foliage as much as possible. The other thing is all these trees even if mono culture are creating a canopy to shield the saplings and other upcoming plants below them, so its multi generational. And in the desert people grow like this all the time, in the beginning they try to grow whatever will be fast and provide shade and a starter canopy, after that you can get more picky with species.

China don't have typical western mentality that I want to see result tomorrow. Just like the current generation of Chinese success was built on hard work and sacrifice of previous generation of hardworking Chinese. You can't reach the moon in one step. 习惯就好。这些酸民宁愿看见世界更多沙漠,都不要看到中国绿化的成功。毕竟黄种人的成功颠覆了他们多年来的优越感。事实会证明一切。

that kind of re greening the desert should follow in Africa and Australia so more land can become productive as agriculture , water retention and hopefully lower planet temperature

Yes it can stop desertification.. _-name coined back round 2000, when I first heard of it But as it is. It will take time. Money, water and care.

They are also channelling water from the South to the North...this will ease..the annual flooding problem of the central plain and provide water to the north...😮😅😊

Just shows , we forget that we so often share more than we differ with other countries, different cultures and social systems. Which is better, global behemoths like Montanto whose eye is just on the bottom line, or what we perceive as Chinese restrictive communism who seemingly are doing great things for their people and the world with this exercise? Can the West collaborate effectively with China for global good , or will our system of needing an enemy to support the military and keep politicians powerful preclude that collaboration and deny the West answers to our own ecological problems . As Churchill said, Jaw-jaw is better than war-war so lets give talking a chance

The problem of this project is that planting trees is not enough and a lot of them died. For it to survive, you need to planta forest which is a balance between different plants and animals. It s the same problem with our tree forest culture and our monocultural agriculture. Now they get it. Many countries in the worldare now greening what was 100 or 200 years ago beautiful forest. The shame is that humans don t get that they have to manage their own population too, not in the way China did, which was a big mistake tho.
