Her detailed analysis on any topic inspires me a lot and her vocabulary is just amazing 🙂 And pinch of sarcasm also adds up to topic and makes it interesting
This was much needed Palki, for me. Thankyou so much for choosing this topic today. The crux is: We need to strike a balance between our brain and the second brain, we cant document everything and its not even necessary. Instead of being preoccupied with our phone, we just have to pay attention to the things around us. Because brain can remember every important thing that's the beauty, because Clarity > Clutter
You remember every presentation you have seen and know exactly how to find this after two years? Second brain is not about documenting everything, this use case would be extremely rare.
@@BuJyo and now imagine to connect and tag your notes and destil these into evergreen knowledge, and all this with free for personal use software :) (like Obsidian)
Few thousand years ago, we used to memorize Vedic verses and reproduce, such was the capacity of brain we put to use, now we shrank our brain. During my child hood, calculator was a luxury and to solve maths manually, Now for a simple arithmetic sum, we need calculator. I do not know what is in store when we evolve further.
In some Western countries they do not even know how to add and subtract, forget anything easy. Why? They use a special calculator costing an arm and a leg. As I am typing my Samsung keyboard is doing a dodgy _ split key board therefore it is trying to outsmart thr human brain.
Palki, Whenever I hear from you, I never feel like I am hearing updates around the world. it feels as if I am reading an interesting article or a thoughtfully written essay or a beautiful discussion or conversation with a well informed person. You deliver not just the news or updates, but back it up with adequate research, supporting data, connected stories, sarcastic humour, personal views, popular quotes etc.. It is like listening to a powerful speech that delivers the final inspirational message seamlessly. Thank you so much for that. Coming to this topic of brain, our brain can store even an entire encyclopedia. Researchers believe that even Einstein used only 2% of his brain. Such is the capacity of our brains. But unfortunately in the name of technological development, we not only forgot it, but also forbade our own body parts to do the designed tasks. We have curated 20 amazing and shocking facts on human brain in our educational channel as well and that was when we understood how least we are all using our brains and how most depending on external elements to do its job. Thank you once again for bringing this to highlight in your own sweet style. :)
Exactly i totally agree that they are making humans handicap ..... earlier i used to remembr phone numbers of all my family member and my close friends ...but now i donot even remeber my own new phone number .....
Brain conditioning of A.I. has been started by the media.. A fast moving step towards slavery. Soon theses elites r planning to turn humans into Robots. Such a shame
In an age of information-almost every piece of knowledge in the world is immediately available on computers we keep in our pockets-the vastness of what’s available to learn, read, listen to, or watch causes a scarcity of attention.
Brain conditioning of A.I. has been started by the media.. A fast moving step towards slavery. Soon theses elites r planning to turn humans into Robots. Such a shame!
Right, my little son is disappointed that I fail to remember his phone number. But he remembers mine and that of his mother, grandmother. Thanks for deliberating on this topic. Earlier I was considering using these note keeping apps to remember things. Now I realise, it is not worth it.
The lady nails it. I'd only add that all that information is used to train google's IA, which in turn can be used in countless unpredictable ways, some of them being potentially extremely dangerous, while human beings are getting dumber in the process.
WOW, you are great ! thank you for sticking with the human spirit and not promoting 'their' agenda. I'm very happy that you get back from us what you project and deserve: Love. We are grateful for your videos ! 💗💗💗
Today my grandchild is two years old, she can handle my i phone anyway she can , there is nothing she can’t operate on the phone. My husband died without knowing what’s iPhone in
at 4:21 where the "some of us can barely handle one brain" comment was made, my mind went into a limbo if it was a joke, sarcasm or the truth... haha...
Its useful to note things we don't want to remember, pass knowledge to someone. also things start making more sense after looking at thought flow in a fast time lapse... good topic 👍
Thank you Ms Palki, every document of yours will never go in vain, well documented, researched, unbiased and informative to young and old. You're the best, your clarity, speaking style, vocabulary are just perfect even better than the British. You're gifted, calm, composed, classy, decent and the inspiration to many. Keep going. I wish you the very best.
We have a brain to think and in this age, we tend to outsource the slightest of thinking to "apps" and forget some of our brain's critical functions...
I admire her work.... I wish and aspire to be like her. No matter how much I try to praise her just for her work, her speaking skills, I fall for her looks , her dressing sense, even more...
Wow, your husband, your family and the world are blessed to have you Malak of God. Thank you so very much for these informations, God blesses your career!
While I support the idea of not having to rely on a second brain space for the storage of personal details, thoughts, experiences, etc., the narrative and examples quoted were largely confined to personal situations and hardly scratches the surface of academic/professional contexts. I've been toying myself with the idea of setting up my own knowledge management space, where excerpts of information from news articles, technical publications, lectures, books pertaining to various topics along with industry insights, technology trends I come across are retrievably documented & categorised. Beyond text, audio, images, I'd also like to build a virtual knowledge world that'll allow to form multidimensional illustrations and picturizations that pop up in the brain while learning new concepts and ideas. Such a storage would allow revisiting/reinforcing the learning path and the associations/personal notes formed in the process, to ultimately enhance the learning/re-learning experience. In this regard, the human brain could very well benefit from a supplementary storage/retrieval knowledge base.
@Mugen's channel I'm thinking more along the lines of a personalised knowledge space, which has an individual's own interpretations, inferences and learnings stored... Sort of connections, associations, analogies I make during the learning process to better grasp concepts.. For e.g. Google maps might give directions, but everyone remembers/might remember the route/location differently.. for some it is a flower shop, for others the grocery store, etc...
@Mugen's channel Nevertheless I understand the narration about questioning the need of a second brain for personal experiences and would agree that it's less indispensable in this context
That fresh burst of new information I get from Palki energizes my mood. I feel like living on top edge of this modern world yet reminding me of giving important things priority.
Not for everyone. But I use evernote religiously. All my todo list for my personal and professional life. I am a millionaire because of utilizing notes and a calendar to never drop the ball if you will. Again, this works for me. I sure hell would not be where I am today without being super organize. Being organize reduces a tremendous about of unnecessary stress.
I think storing ideas is also a task and it also makes our brain more working and valuable in all dimensions and Indian education system focuses on both which produces great brains....
Thank you M/s Palki Sharma for sharing this idea with sufficient analysis, explanations and personal thoughts. I believe, we all are created mysteriously with sophisticated brain, which we are not using it in full capacity. I buy your idea, that using our brain is sufficient without looking for the second brain. The limitless vault of knowledge is within us. Thank you once again.
Excellent.....yes i m a tutor nd i hve experienced that before i used to make projects for my students making them participating in it by involving myself to capture the details from a world geographic book or few text sources by which i could be more informative nd thus pass on d knowledge to children but as of now more apps are preferred no doubt u get very good information from technical sources but to fetch for it in books one comes across various aspects so second brain is shifting the future generation from hardwork to readymade stuff ... very true mam thnku
Gravitas is on the cutting edge of coverage. Whenever I see a Gravitas Plus video, it is almost always a very important topic. The bar has been set high. I would like to recommend 2 topics : ME/CFS Disease (it needs more coverage) and Personalized Nutrition (the likes of DayTwo and PREDICT Studies)
Hi, scientists discover that the last 3,000 years our brains capacity decline by 30% du to writing and urban Life style, because we began writing down all information, and we didn't need to remember everything, and also urban life became easyer to live there, so our brains became relaxed, and lazy, so this was the ancient second brain, and it's a good example for as today.
Memory formation, memory retention and memory recall are all essential neurological components of cerebration. Institutions are teaching developing brains short-term rather than long-term memory recall, hence these technologically assisted memory recall strategies are beneficial to modern thinkers.
When I criticise i criticise hard...but Palki Sharma upadhyay...you deserve a salute and all the praise today...for talking on this issue...and the way it's presented by you is almost perfect.... great work really appreciate it.
As kids we used to write a journal or diary entries but flipping through the pages later on is totally different from these apps which give a cold impersonal feel. More than the act of noting down our thoughts or a job list it is the constant interaction (and dependence) with the phone really which I think is actually depressing. It has good uses like staying in touch with the family and friends (better than the old landline which didn't travel with us), clicking instant photos and videos, even a job list/shopping list or reminders. We don't really need any more apps.
I have been watching the show for quiet a while now ... well i mean and i have agreed with almost all if not all of them yet .... but for this one i don't think if i do agree 100% i mean the story about the girl was an example but it was quiet an extreme example of sorts ... I'm sure most of us do remember how we felt about a person the first time and then we met them for the same reason for the 3rd time .... besides that's not the point, according to my view, i feel like even if the capacity of the brain is 2.5 petabyte, it is ofcourse definitely impossible to remember all of what's happening, yes it is important to enjoy the time you are having and not just jotting down whatever you feel at the moment but the fact that this tech is available for us to do so is kind of a blessing, and especially the example she gave us about the office files .... it is definitely a need for all the offices to store the information for which second brain is necessary, besides if we are talking about getting dependent on the technology..... i feel lile its pretty normal for it to happen, i mean look at us even having electricity is a feat of technological advancements and we are dependent upon it, so i don't think if its right to judge a tech of such high capabilities just by some trivial reasons..... Besides that's just my opinion, i do love this show and how the host is dedicated to bring us knowledge on different topics!!
I like you. Granted I didn't at first cuz of the U.S. bashing but you were actually right about our politicians. That is not to say thst well all like our politicians. I had forgotten how spiritual India was. You're right about the brain and we only use about 15% of it's capacity for everything as it is. I'd like to touch on something I read on the net about India. It was a piece written by an Indian male who spoke of why India was still considered a 3rd world country. There were 5 major things but the main that hit hard with me was that there is too much spousal abuse of the women, that they don't have the same rights as men. He also stated that India is leading the world in innovation and discovery, like medical and industrial. You should do a write up of how we as people can help each other. We may be different culturally but we are really all part of one race, the human race. What can I do to help India? I am a Texan btw. Just thought you might want to know. :)
The most brilliant journalist of the planet i think Palki Maam... You are inspiration of many Maam.. its so insightful to hear everytime from you ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Only palki sharma can render such news.... Very informative and eye opening.... Particularly for people who are attracted towards so called evolving western culture
Palki, you have touched upon a critical subject. You have expertly packed many insights , your own take crisply. This needs large debates by experts... Deepak Chopra floats ( indirectly) the idea that our brains are not mere storehouses or memory banks like a PC but are made of nueral networks that are pathways to a myriad dimensions of CONSCIOUSNESS that open up to our experience provided we are able to access them. Yoga and the flowering of Chakras are exactly the unfolding of incredible psychic domains ( the universe of music, thought , other subtler energy dimains) which we are shut out of. Our limited Body-Mind identity is "designed " to keep our experiences within a limited range. Hence there is a technical question whether the brain is just a repository of static and frozen memories ? You should raise the question as to how we process our memories ( remembered experiences) based on our current evaluation of the past context. The brain perhaps only appears to hold the memories. In reality it may be a network through which we " access" memories which in turn reside in non-local, non-linear fields which are beyond physicality. You have raised the seminal question of who we are as decision makers, assessors, critics, evaluators etc. ? Are we just this limited personalities with limited identities and responses? Or are we something far deeper ? Thanks for tickling a complex subject in such a topical manner.
l am so happy to hear Palki say our brains are good enough. My memory seems to store all the most important things without the hassle of a second brain. Thanks for that report. Now I will listen to it one more time and remember all I need to. Oh. And if I store it I am sure to lose it. ha ha. true..
Interesting info. I had no idea this existed. That's how much time I spend on my phone and the App Store. I read books, go on the archive, watch documentaries and, once in a while, watch a good tv show on Netflix. Yes, I like to write poetry and have some short stories I've begun, and my notes are everywhere, but I like re-reading them. Sometimes, they're pretty good, and I think, "did I write that?" I've a check shopping list on my phone I reuse whenever I go to the market. I do just fine with the brain I have. Thank you, Palki for sharing this. I agree with you.
We don't need any more apps, and definitely don't need a 2nd brain...in my opinion. Great subject for discussion! Attention is the hottest commodity in this world, we just don't understand the power of our attention!!
We are all being tracked. 1984 comes to mind. I have a good brain, I remember my whole life. My brain! I wont lose it because I use it. I still do sums in my head
Yyyeeaaahhhh!!........ Palki got that steez, she got this confident smooth talk along with her beauty, she does it like nothing but to do it, on a high level, she just raised the bar on professionalism, now we just need to see her do the weather report(if you know what I mean 😋)you dig!!!.... Eso mamas!!....
I’m afraid that the technology will make us morons within near future. As an aging person, I can tell you that keeping the memory sharp is important. “Use it or lose it” is the rule. Forgetting the past is also important for our mental well-being. Anyway you have to be commended for selecting such a relevant topic.
Palki Hello :) and Hugs. You should always wear Indian clothes, they are a lot nicer on you. I'm a western Gran's ;) lol and I prefer the Indian clothing for Ladies. Thank you for your work, this is so appreciated and intelligent.
The idea of second brain software is to store information you can't memorize. As a project manager you are lost without tools that store and connect structured data. Using a second brain tool just as diary is possible but weird.
Thanks. I was almost convinced that this was a good idea. You reminded of why it is not, by giving me new reasons and also reminding me of my own values and ideas. Thanks, Palki.
Being a psychologist I feel reassured everytime I watch her videos on topics of health and mental health that there is a someone at the national level trying to put us back on the ground with her fact based information
Is there any problem with keeping a diary? I do have memory problems because of having epilepsy and brain surgery, so I do like to record some things. On the other hand; all the second brain stuff that I use are my calendar, contacts, and keeping my digital diary as doc files that can be viewed offline.
You are wiser than me for having an off-line diary because I tried an online diary in Facebook until I was deprived access to my account (and E-mail for it); it was one of my greatest regrets ever.
