You look so beautiful with your gray hair! I'm 40+ and have quite a few gray hair growing.. I have not dyed my hair yet.. I feel tempted but having watched your video I think I will not dye it at all. Ecological reasons are close to my heart and I want to stay true to myself. Thank you for your video! It is important to have strong, beautiful women as role models.

Thank you for your lovely comments and words of support. Some days, it's hard to stay the course but I know this is the right decision for me, right now. I totally support your ecological reasons for not dyeing your hair. It's amazing that you've never dyed your hair at all. That's fantastic!

Stumbled across your video when looking for Gray transition info. I just turned 55 yesterday and have decided to stop dyeing. I only have about 2 inches of natural growth right now, so look forward to seeing how this turns out. I am one of those people that hate going to the salon. When I did finally find someone I could relate to they ended up moving 😢. Appreciate your honesty and advice in these videos.

Hi Catherine! I'm so pleased to hear we are together on this journey! 🥰 It's not always easy but on the difficult days, I try to focus on other things and wear my favorite lipstick or earrings or favorite clothing. 2 inches is a great start! I found the beginning quite challenging, especially the first few weeks when it just looked like I missed a salon appt. Like you, I can't wait to see how my hair turns out. Only one way to find out...

Congratulations on your year's milestone. I completely grew the colour out of my hair. Then after some comments, (mother, friends and someone I dated). I 'caved in' and got some highlights and a toner. After a few weeks later I regretted it. So, I've started again - I'm six months in - but refuse to colour it again xx

Thx so much for sharing your journey with me, Donna. 6 months into your re-start is great progress! 😍This time will be easier in some ways because you know exactly what to expect when you get to your destination. I toy with the idea of coloring my hair sometimes but I know in my heart that I would immediately regret it. Your experience validates this for me. At my last salon appointment, I told my hair stylist that I might like to try some low lights or highlights sometime and she discouraged that idea. I think I will sit with it for 6 months before taking any action. I found this journey quite challenging at times and I vow to never go through it again. It's nice to be on this journey with you. We can support each other! 💞

Thank you for posting your journey. You look beautiful. I’m thinking of doing it, but I have pale skin and look so washed out with light hair. I’ve tried on gray wigs and look terrible, and gray clothes are also an issue. Just not brave enough to try it quite yet. I sure would enjoy the freedom, though . People with olive skin look so beautiful with gray hair. We’ll see if I get the courage!
@grayexpectations5686
@grayexpectations5686 Год назад
Hi Anna, thank you for your encouraging comments. I thought about doing this for quite a while before I actually got up the courage to let my hair go natural. It's still hard at times and some days I question my decision. I think weighing out the pros and cons is all part of the process. As you say, it is very freeing, and that's a huge plus. I also agree that each person's journey is unique and some are fortunate enough to have a complexion that really suits going gray. And some with very light colored hair, don't have as stark a contrast when their natural roots start coming in. On the wardrobe side, I've noticed lately that certain colors that I've gravitated to in the past, don't look as good on me with my new hair color, so I'm paying more attention to that. Give yourself the time you need, there's no rush to make a decision, you'll know when the time is right for you. 🥰

When I receive comments like yours about ppl loving their natural hair and wishing they'd done it sooner, it really encourages me to keep going. Congrats to you on being natural for over 3 years! @@grayexpectations5686 when i was coloring hair (and highlighting, so i had 4 diff colors going) my sideburns would come in white, also temples, rest of the roots were dark with bits of silver here and there. i HATED those white sideburns, so would put wow in a dark brown there all the time, but after deciding to let it go grey, i accepted that those sideburns would be grey and NOW that’s my favorite part bc they are grey streaks and look very cool when i pull hair back or up. my son tells me i look like a superhero with those streaks. Yes, u never know what it will grow in like until you do it, so i basically have 4 big streaks of grey, all in the front, the temples and the sideburns. The fun part about turning gray is adjusting the wardrobe. Certain colors just look so much better with gray hair. Same with eye shadow and even lipstick. I sometimes put a little bit of the finest glitter in my hair for special occasions - it just sparkles a tiny bit when the light hits it from the right angle. Have you done some wardrobe changes since the change?
@grayexpectations5686
@grayexpectations5686 Год назад
Your comment is so timely because just yesterday as I was driving, I was thinking that my wardrobe needs a shake up. I haven't quite worked it all out yet but I do find that jewel tones look better with my gray. I never really wore red or pink in the past but they look better on me now; I always leaned toward the orange/brown tones which aren't doing much for my new hair color. I love your idea of putting a little titch of glitter in your hair to make it sparkle! What colors do you lean toward?
@goat8477
@goat8477 Год назад
@@grayexpectations5686 Since the colors of my eyes, skin and - of course - hair lean towards the cool side (color experts would say I am a 'summer-type'), I find that navy, cool reds, or mauve - lilac tones make me look fresh. I love to look at lime, apricot or turqouise - but close to my face they make me look sicklish. But as far as I can see from the video, your intuition with the jewel tones serves you right. Teal, Burgundy or Ultramarine and even cool greys (with a jewel tone scarf) could be awesome and glam 🙂 - the fantastic texture of your hair even allows for some big jewelry statement pieces. Have fun on you adventure (you could become a trendsetter in your neighborhood... :-)

Thank you for your lovely comment. Some days are a challenge but I'm gaining traction and hope I'm at least 1/2 way to my destination! 🤩

HI ! I'll be following your journey. I'v tried 10x but my White hairs turn gray after about 3 1/2 months and DONT look good on me so I just went light brown (semi permenent color)again today. I have an Identical Twin 8 miles away and she's not ready yet maybe next year, friend Connie

Hi Connie! Thank you for following my gray hair transition. I'm sure you can teach me something about this journey since you've been through it before. I'm now wondering if it's likely that my white hair will become more gray over time. Did you get completely through the transition when this happened? It's very special that you have an identical twin sister that lives so close by. Maybe you and your twin can do this together in the future; that would be very special. 🥰💗

I love your video my hair is greying the same lighter around the front Dying it is starting to become a problem , I have been using dark Ash blond which starts off too dark and then washes out to a light blond always feel yellow is an issue and you have inspired me to think about leaving it to be natural ,scary thought tho I'm 65 soon and always try to look young for my age but it's getting harder to do .xxxx

Hi Wendy! I totally relate to wanting to look your best and wanting to look and feel young for your age. Some days, I force myself to put a little extra effort into my appearance, so that I feel better about how I look. There's definitely a mental shift that occurs as you go through this journey and I give myself an extra dose of positive self talk when I need it. Like you, I wasn't aways happy with how my dyed hair looked, it was often too dark immediately after my appointments and then could get brassy when I was due for a color. I don't have any friends my age letting their hair go natural and I'm turning 60 this year! Let's do this together! 🥰💗

Gray hair is so beautiful! I even feel sometimes that hair with coloration ages a person even more. I mean everyone sees the biological age... And with colored hair the whole appearance just looks somewhat disjointed, or out of sync. Keep going - its beautiful.

I am noticing more and more that dyed hair doesn't always flatter or look natural as we age. Sometimes the dye just looks too dark and it's a stark contrast to a mature complexion. I had a wobble last week where I was just not feeling good about the way I look. On those days, I turn to my favorite earrings or other special accessory that picks me up. I really appreciate your positive attitude and encouragement. 🥰

@@grayexpectations5686 I know those 'shakeys' well - also in other matters where change is due. When in stress we revert to what's familiar, even though the 'old ways' have outlived their welcome... I am looking forward to another vid - if you feel like it ;-)

Thank you Jodi! Some days are easier than others for sure. I do find the simple hair styles that I use help take the focus off my tri-colour hair.
