The Grayslake-Hainesville PD, Grayslake FPD, and Greater Round Lake FPD responded to a report of a structure fire in the 600 block of Oakwood Dr in Grayslake, IL. The caller reported smoke coming from the attic and a sound of flames crackling. Upon arrival, fire crews reported smoke showing from the roof of the structure. Command requested MABAS Box Alarm #27-1 for change of quarters only and also requested utility companies such as ComEd, North Shore Gas, and 1-800-BOARDUP. The fire was extinguished and the fire department started an investigation. Thankfully, it appears no one was injured from the fire. The homeowner was evaluated by fire crews and signed a refusal. This incident occurred on 03/24/20 at around 4:59 PM.

Sorry to ask but what does this mean? "The homeowner was evaluated by fire crews and signed a refusal. "

This means the owner of the house involved in the fire was physically evaluated by fire department medics for injuries. The homeowner then signed a refusal (in the video they say release, they are the same terms), which is saying you don't want to go to the hospital/refuse further treatment and you sign those papers. Thank you for watching!

@@WooSungShim Thanks. I wanted to make sure my assumption was correct as I normally think of EMS and not fire crews doing this kind of work.

@@retiredjeff2927 Jeff: Throughout the suburbs of Chicago they are usually one in the same. For the departments with full time staff, they are usually all firefighter/paramedics. Each shift they will rotate between ambulance and engine, etc. Additionally, ambulance crews gear up and fight the fire.

Wow. I mean at some point it would be easier to call on the units who need to stay in quarters. Would be a shorter list..
