The Lake County Sheriff's Office and Gurnee Fire Department responded to a report of a grass fire in the 36700 block of N Grandwood Dr in Grandwood Park, IL. The caller then advised that the fire was getting close to a boat and a vehicle. Shortly after, the caller advised the boat was on fire. The first arriving fire unit, Gurnee FD Engine 1322, reported a vehicle was on fire in the backyard and requested a full structure fire response. Fire units from both Gurnee Fire Stations responded as well as an engine from Newport Township Fire Protection District. Gurnee FD 1304 arrived on scene and reported a heavy fire and requested Working Still Alarm #13-34. An engine from Waukegan FD, chiefs from Gurnee FD and Newport Township FPD, and the Gurnee Fire Prevention Bureau responded to the scene. Additionally, fire apparatus from Libertyville FD, Zion FD, Mundelein FD, and Lake Villa FPD were due for change of quarters. ComEd and North Shore Gas also responded to the scene. Command reported the structure adjacent to the fully involved garage sustained damage but was not on fire. Luckily, it appears no one was injured. This incident occurred on 04/18/20 at around 5:04 PM.
