WOW! Never knew Perry worked in so many different mediums. I have seen photos of his home which is stunning so I should not be so surprised. Thanks so much for making this video and sharing it on You Tube.

Hi, I love the videos- they are thoughtful, engaging, and useful as an art student. For your next video would you consider doing Picasso: Minotaurs and Matadors at Gagosian (in London)? I would love to watch you explore a show with such a direct narrative!

Thanks Rob for your appreciation of The Art Channel. Minotaurs and Matadors is an excellent show but we aim for a balance in the artists and galleries we cover. We made a film recently about Picasso's Portraits at the National Portrait Gallery. Our next film will visit an exhibition by the sculptor Richard Long in the park at Houghton Hall in Norfolk

What I love about Grayson Perry is that he makes art that is modern but it still demonstrate skills. He doesn't bullsh*t his way on it and his art is in your face. Compare it to his fwllow British Artist who makes literal sh*t in a can or a fcking fly as an art.

To be honest, I'm not comfortable looking at human skulls, even if it's well made and not real. If you can see a skull, it tells you that the person it belonged to is dead. Everyone's a very long time dead. I like to be happy and not dwell on death. Personally I'm not too worried about dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens Having studied a little psychology a few years ago, and having studied art for a year or two, I've noticed artists seem to pick skulls as a subject and I suspect that there's a few weeks work just waiting there to be done, by a good psychologist or hypnotherapist like myself. Are you reading this Damien ? On a lighter note, I like the idea Greyson has about including images of the personalities and the places and objects of the time we live in. Almost the same as a time capsule. It's given me a few ideas to incorporate into my own work. I also like the way he's got variety in his work. You look at twenty or thirty years of work from some artists and their work, their style has not changed much if at all. And I wonder how they don't get bored rigid producing the same thing time after time. I like Frank Stella's later 3D type work, although some of it's very roughly made and there's far too much ugly "scaffolding" in many of his big works. Having said that he's been prolific over about 40 years and changed his style out of all recognition. However there's no humour, no tongue in cheek, no puzzles to solve, to keep one's attention for very long. No personality shines through. Many American artists seem to take themselves far too seriously and dive into long technical explanations about something like a minimalist piece of work. Personally, my subconscious tells my conscious brain if I like a piece or not, in a split second and they can talk till they're blue in the face it won't make much difference Getting back to Greyson, I did like his two vases, and his large tapestry is superb. It's the best tapestry I've ever seen. Having looked at a huge amount of art on display in the New York galleries I'd say the British work is better. Much better. Oh, and I even liked Greyson's dresses that I've seen him wear. They're spectacular but all done in the best possible taste as Kenny Everett used to say. Very interesting video, thank you. Visually it’s pretty weak and amateurish .
