GRDIAN Nova Dash Cam Reboot Fix

In this video I pull the old wire harness used to wire my GRDIAN Nova Dash Cam and install a new adapter to supply efficient power to the cam.
My Nova has been in a rebooting cycle for awhile now. I’ve contacted GRDIAN and we’ve did some troubleshooting. It was determined that there was an issue with the hardwiring. The Dash Cam keep putting itself into a reboot cycle because it wasn’t receiving the power it required to run properly. Long story short I found out that the USB adapter I wired in fried.
I’m not sure how this happened. It worked fine for the months I’ve had it installed. I believe it fried the circuit when I was tuning the vehicle because it requires the ignition to be turned on and off repeatedly. I’m not 100% sure that this is what cause it but it’s my educated guess. Anyways let’s fix it.

Nice video. With the old wiring setup or the new wiring setup, has the truck thrown any codes ? I’ve heard sometimes, depending on the application, that the truck will throw a code because the computer is reading something there that shouldn’t be. Hope that question makes sense. A wiring guru I am not. I’m more on the mechanical side of things, air intakes, brakes, oil changes, etc.

Here a link but unfortunately it’s currently not available SimpleUSBPort Dash Cam Power Adapter (10-pin Type D) a.co/d/gvEUUel Note! I’ve been experiencing problems with this harness as well. It seems like all these aftermarket adapters work for a few months flawlessly then go out. I do plan on purchasing the correct Hardwire kit directly from GRDIAN. Video coming soon..
