I couldnt be more grateful for having discovered your channel here, In fact it gives me high hopes going into taking my first gre test. and im fully convinced will turn out successful foe me. thanks once again
Hi Philip, thank you for your videos and your teaching method. They are really good and were very helpful. Wouldn't have gotten this far without them. Thanks a ton.
Just wanted to say thank you! I wish I would’ve found you sooner but I watched a lot of your videos and used this exact technique on my test and improved my score!
Your mental math(math on head) is quite superb. I used to do this. But it lead me to some careless errors while doing it on my head. So i try to make everything on paper. But practice makes it perfect is true in your case i think. Your videos are awesome. Your accent is neat and clear. My trick: ( 15% of 200) = (10% + 5%) = 20+10=30 . This trick works well to approximate
Hey man, just found your channel, I’ve got my exam day after tomorrow. Tbh I know it’s a failed cause, wish that RU-vid algorithm got me to a bit sooner, I might’ve been happy, but continue the good work! I’ll make sure the second attempt is top class!
Thankyou so much for these tips and tricks you provide. Hopefully I'll be able to implement it in my practice test and increase my score in quants. I'm grateful and thankful for you because your tips are helping me to solve problems. Thankyou thankyou thankyou ❤️❤️❤️
I've been watching other videos all day on this topic and taking the longer routes to calculate, getting stressed and super anxious, about to give up on taking the test, and then I find this gem of a video that made it super simple and saved so much of my time and reduced my anxiety 😭😭😭 Thank you for existing, I wish I found you sooner.
All your tricks relieve so much of my test anxiety. Hands down favorite person to watch for GRE quant studying tricks. Thank you for all your hard work ❤🎉😊
I have my exam next week and I was totally fucked up with percentage watching your video made me gain confidence that yes I can score well all I need is to be calm and use your four tricks
This is the third video I’m watching and I appreciate all the tricks I have learned so far! I have a question about “decreased by %” why is mental math of 100-28 then multiplying the result by (140) more encouraged than doing 140*(1-.28) in the calculator?
Thanks Riyam! A fair point. But I still recommend it because with some practice of mental subtraction this saves a couple extra clicks of the calculator. And more importantly if you rely on the calc for everything it will slow you down for almost the whole test so good to get some mental practice in.
Philip you're the real deal ! Thanks a lot for this channel. I have a question , can I prepare for a 330+ score in 5 months? I completed my BE Mechanical recently and opting for a Fullbright Scholarship 2020 program.
increasing percentage successive times(p1,p2,p3....) is same as compuding interest . the only difference being when compounding the Rate of interest remains same. whereas in percentage problems usually p1,p2,p3 changes
hey @thetestedtutor, i have my GRE in 20 days & I have watched majority of your videos. I absolutely love how easy you have made complex quant as well as verbal topics! Thank you so much for doing what you do
Non-calculator method for solving the 21% of 240 types. Just find 20% which is 240/5 = 48. Then find 1% which is 2.4 i.e divide 240 by 100 Add 48+2.4=50.4 A similar method for 2% and 3% Hope this helps.
Hey Philip! I was solving a few percentage related questions and I stumbled upon a few questions that were really hard to crack. I was hoping you could help me out with the question. Is there any other platform where I can message you? Because I have to send the picture of the question.
hello mate, I really liked your video and I want to know which books are best for preparation of GRE. I am looking to take my GRE in October. I must say that I need a book/set of books that consists of full GRE course.
Bhaskar, it's a great question, I haven't finished reviewing every book produced on the GRE but the Manhattan 5LB book is extremely comprehensive. Thank you for the kind words.
I know this video is old, but I’m studying for the gre and I’m watching your videos. I was wondering how often did you use the calculator in the exam, and is there a way to type the numbers quickly ?
You may use the keyboard to input the digits on the calculator. Practise using the num pad on a normal keyboard; that way you won't have to search for digits on the keypad. BTW, he is a math whiz - your needs will differ from his.
