50 cent vintage Nancy Drew?! No way! So happy those two treasures found their way to someone who will truly appreciate them. Nothing better than a library book sale in my opinion.
So nice to see some older authors getting some love! I read all of the Nancy Drew books as a kid and also the Hardy Boys. I’m going to try to find Up the Down Staircase. Saw the movie years ago. Great haul!
Another WOW! I TRULY UNDERSTAND excitement over finding certain books and ANYTHING related to bks.! I'm ALWAYS making noises in book shops, library, ANTICIPATING book trips w/ my best reading friend(usually don't sleep night before, SERIOUSLY). Library Sales are pure Heaven. You found GREAT books!!!! Nancy Drew 1939!!!! Are you kidding me!!!! I was drooling g when you showed those. Really happy you found ALL you did😁 Can't wait for your Christmas Book video! I have alot too. Thank you!
Your Nancy Drew books bring me back to editions my mother had on our bookshelves - I loved those blue linen-like covers ❤ I can't believe you found them for only .50!! my library sales never have these old treasures. The Beverly Nichols covers are amazing! great finds!
Hi Jen, lucky you to find the vintage Beverly Nichols! He is a wonderful writer and has lots more than those three books! I have collected them all, or nearly all and love them so much. His writing reminds me somewhat of James Herriot. So much fun. Merry Hall and that trilogy are about his home, but others are about village life and people. Enjoy.😊 it all looks great.😊
I love the Beverley Nichols series and have managed to find several pristine vintage copies of them for my collection. They are so snide, clever and charming! You got some good books in that library sale!
Thanks for mentioning "Up The Down Staircase." I read this book many years ago, probably in high school. I'm 72 now. I also love the vintage cover. These old mass-market paperbacks are great. Check out the old movie based on this book if you have not seen it. The movie is great time capsule of a simpler time.
Rumer Godden reminds me of M.M.Kaye. Kaye also wrote novels set in India. If you haven’t read Far Pavilions by Kaye, you must. She wrote three separate memoirs about growing up in India and England. Additionally, she wrote mysteries set in exotic places.
I love M.M. Kaye! I have read The Far Pavilions and loved it! I've also read a couple of her romantic suspense novels which remind me of Mary Stewart. I have the first volume of her memoirs on my tbr shelf! I'm so glad to find someone else who loves her too. I so rarely hear her talked about.
I also read her mystery/suspense books. It is a real shame that she hasn’t gotten the recognition that she deserves. I recommend Far Pavilions all the time.
I have Agnes Grey on my TBR shelf and need to get to it! I haven't even heard of the other two but I will check them out. Thank you for the recommendations!
